Five Cities Fire Authority - Weed Abatement Program

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thursday, March 6, 2025

FIVE CITIES FIRE AUTHORITY - WEED ABATEMENT PROGRAM

The Five Cities Fire Authority (FCFA) has begun its Annual Weed Abatement Program for 2025. Initial weed abatement inspections will be conducted in early April for the cities of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach.

The community of Oceano is not currently included in the Five Cities Fire Authority Hazardous Fuel Reduction/Weed Abatement Program.

Properties not in compliance will receive a "Notice to Destroy Weeds and Remove Hazardous Fuels, and Rubbish." Property owners will have until Sunday, June 1, 2025, to abate their property. The Fire Authority will then re-inspect properties after the compliance deadline.

All non-compliant properties will then have the nuisance abated by the designated FCFA weed abatement contractor. If the Fire Authority is required to have the property cleared of the hazardous fuels, the property owner will be charged for the contractor's actual abatement fee plus an administrative fee of 100% of the actual cost of abatement.

Please go to Weed Abatement - Five Cities Fire Authority for more information on the hazardous fuel reduction/weed abatement guidelines.

If you have any questions regarding weed abatement, please call the Five Cities Fire Authority at (805) 473-5490 or email [email protected].
