Wales: Question now is whether reforms can end crisis

The Welsh Government has now launched its consultation on reform of NHS dentistry, and we are getting ready to reach out to dentists across Wales to get the clearest picture from our members.

In our recent open letter we called out the Welsh Government's spin, half-truths and doublespeak on workforce numbers and patient funding. With the service at a crossroads there can be no more 'cooking the books' in this consultation.

"Jeremy Miles was right when he said dentistry faces its biggest changes in decades," said Russell Gidney, Chair of the British Dental Association's Welsh General Dental Practice Committee.

"The question now is whether these reforms are sufficient to end the crisis our patients face and halt the exodus of dentists from the NHS.

"We are committed to get the real perspective from those working on the frontline."
