PX index weakens by more than 1 pct, dragged down by banks

Prague, March 10 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange's (BCPP) headline PX index weakened by 1.33 percent to 2,006.08 points today, dragged down from its all-time high mainly by shares in the banking sector, according to the bourse's website.

Most of the titles on the Prague market closed in the red today.

The Prague Stock Exchange fell in line with foreign markets, and the turbulent development was reflected across sectors, said Fio banka broker Martin Singer.

Erste Group Bank was the worst performer today, as well as the most traded title. It lost 3.91 percent to Kc1,621.50. Komercni banka fell by 1.2 percent to Kc1,069 and Moneta Money Bank wrote off 2.37 percent to Kc140.20.

Energy company CEZ fell by 0.1 percent to Kc1,030, while engineering firm Doosan Skoda Power shed 0.3 percent to Kc327. Tobacco company Philip Morris CR, the Pilulka pharmacy chain and drone maker Primoco also closed in the red.

On the other hand, insurer VIG gained 1.22 percent to Kc910. Metallurgical firm Gevorkyan added 2.34 percent to Kc262 and beverage maker Kofola closed with a gain of 0.23 percent at Kc434.
