SIUE's Gorman, Anikina Honored by OVC

SIUE junior Amelia Gorman earned her fourth nod as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. Gorman and Stefaniya Anikina also earned OVC Doubles Team of the Week.

Gorman (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) collected two wins at No. 1 singles and is 2-0 in conference play as well as 18-4 overall. She defeated Lindenwood's Fabiana Labrador 6-1, 6-1 and Southern Indiana's Antonia Ferrarini 6-2, 6-2.

She shared the weekly OVC Player of the Week honor with Southeast Missouri's Lera Valeeva.

Gorman and Anikina, a sophomore from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, won two matches at No. 1 doubles this week. The pair out dueled Lindenwood's Paola Garcia and Michelle Trochez 6-1 before picking up a 6-0 decision over Southern Indiana's Sofia Davidoff and Antonia Ferrarini 6-0. The victories helped secure the doubles point in both matches. Gorman and Anikina are 4-0 in doubles matches as a duo and 2-0 in the OVC.

This is Gorman's sixth doubles honor of the season and Anikina's fourth. This marks the second time this season they have earned the honor together.
