APCIA Applauds Georgia Legislature for Passing Senate Bill 68 to Restore Balance to Georgia’s Legal System

ATLANTA - The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today released the following statement, attributed to Ron Jackson, vice president of state government relations at APCIA, regarding the passage of Senate Bill 68 in Georgia.

"APCIA applauds the Georgia Legislature for passing Senate Bill 68 to implement much needed reforms to Georgia's legal system.

"Over time, SB 68's reforms can help address the costs imposed by legal system abuse in Georgia which have a direct impact on the pocketbooks of Georgians. We have seen the positive impact of Florida's 2022-2023 legal system abuse reforms as their litigation environment improves and insurance rates stabilize, with major auto insurers recently filing for rate reductions.

"We thank Governor Brian Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Speaker Jon Burns, Commissioner John King, Senator John Kennedy, and the legislators in both parties for being tremendous champions on this issue and we look forward to the governor signing this historic legislation."
