Berkeley ‘Opens the Door’ to 15 Major Regeneration Sites

Last week, Berkeley Group proudly took part in Open Doors 2025, a nationwide initiative that lifts the curtain on the built environment sector and the variety of rewarding careers it has to offer.

From March 17th to 22nd, the company opened up 15 live regeneration sites across London and the South of England, welcoming students, parents, career changers, and educators to step inside and see the industry in action. Visitors explored major projects, met our teams, and discovered career opportunities that the built environment has to offer.

Highlights from just a few of the sites involved include:

• Girls Under Construction had the chance to witness first hand how a development transforms from skeletal structures to fully finished homes at King's Road Park
• London South Bank University students explored the world's largest cluster of gasholders at Bromley-by-Bow, gaining insight into their history and redevelopment
• Carpentry students from Guildford College visited the North Street site, experiencing life on a live construction project
• T-Level Construction students from City of Westminster College visited Trillium, getting an exciting look at a project in its early stages
• Plumbing students from South Bank Colleges had the unique opportunity to step inside the iconic gasholder at Oval Village

Coordinated by Build UK, Open Doors is designed to showcase the diverse and rewarding roles available in the sector. From engineering and site management, to sustainability and design, the experience provided valuable insights into the skills shaping the built environment.

This year's Open Doors week coincided with the Government announcing a new £600 million investment in skills training to help deliver its target of 1.5 million additional homes. Berkeley has welcomed the announcement and restated its commitment to training the next generation of built environment professionals.

Berkeley supports skills development through a network of dedicated skills managers, mentors, the Berkeley Academy training centre, an online Learning Management System, and a network of external training partners.

Future Skills is one of ten strategic priorities under the company's long-term business strategy, called Our Vision 2030 and Berkeley is a Gold member of The 5% Club, a network of leading businesses that commit to a minimum of 5% of their direct workforce being in earn and learn positions.
