Public Justice Statement on Supreme Court Decision in Favor of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

We strongly agree with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision that the funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is constitutional. The practical implications of this decision are enormous: the CFPB has long protected American consumers, recovering many billions of dollars from predatory lenders and returning them to consumers and passing crucial regulations. It would have been devastating if the Court had not recognized the validity of this essential consumer watchdog, and it is a relief that the CFPB’s integrity has been upheld so it can continue to help American consumers for years to come.
