High School Highlights

FOOTBALL

METRO DISTRICT

Isaiah Beale had another terrific game in a 40-36 Mayo loss to Farmington. The senior running back tallied 203 yards rushing and three touchdowns of 19-, 45- and 20-yards on 22 carries. Beale now has nine touchdowns through three games.

NORTHSTAR DISTRICT

Markes Simpson had three catches for 116 yards, including touchdown grabs of 76, 10 and 30 yards in John Marshall 28-6 rout of Northfield. JM stretched its record to 3-0.

SKYWAY DISTRICT

Carson Heimer gashed Winona for 158 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries to lead a Byron offense that finished with 354 yards on the ground in a 48-15 win over Winona. Heimer had touchdown runs of 1- and 6-yards in first quarter, before adding a 21-yarder in the third. His brother Jordan Heimer had two rushing touchdowns, scoring from 1- and 6-yards out, while finishing with 40 yards on six carries.

Grady Babcock tossed three first-quarter touchdowns as Kasson-Mantorville sprinted past Austin 47-7. Babcock connected with Connor Horning for 13- and 21-yard scores, while finding Jeremiah Peterson for a 49-yard touchdown. Horning would also add a 3-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.

SOUTH DISTRICT

Nicholas Thein had four total touchdowns to help lead Pine Island to a 36-14 win over Red Wing. Thein took a kickoff 96-yards to the house, had a 24-yard receiving touchdown and also had two rushing touchdowns. Thein finished with 100 yards on 12 carries, with touchdown runs of 34- and 3-yards out. He caught a pair of passes for 36 yards.

Asher Bee ran for 107 yards and a touchdown, and Colter Hegge ran for three TDs as Lake City rolled to a 40-7 win at Rochester Lourdes. Cameron Thieren also ran for a TD, and Braxton Berlin returned a fumble 62 yards for a score.

MID-SOUTHEAST DISTRICT

• Fillmore Central recorded 331 yards rushing on just 26 carries en route to a 54-16 win over Faribault Bethlehem Academy. Five different Falcons recorded a rushing touchdown. Anthony Kiehne had two of the touchdowns, while Josh Haugerud led the way with 92 yards on four carries — including a 65 yard touchdown.

9 SOUTH DISTRICT

Maddox Rodriguez ran wild against Mabel-Canton and the result was a 60-20 Houston stunning win against the No. 9 ranked team in the state. Rodriguez, a senior, rushed for 344 yards, with touchdown runs of 95, 78, 81 and 58 yards.

• It was once again the Cam Hungerholt show, the senior guiding LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli to a 46-26 win over Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons. Hungerholt passed for 303 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 282 yards and a touchdown. Carter Sweeney caught nine passes for 164 yards and a TD.

• Quarterback Kaaleem Reiland rushed for 135 yards on just five carries and scored three touchdowns in Kingsland’s 67-7 rout of Lanesboro.

NON-CONFERENCE

• The No. 5-ranked St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura Saints received 4 saves from Aylin Perez and a balanced offensive effort, with goals from Sam Perez, Kaylee Butson and Braelyn Gust, in a 3-0 win against Minnehaha Academy. Cora Davidson had one assist in the Saints' victory against a Minnehaha team that received votes in the most recent state poll.
