The Washington Commanders are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in a highly anticipated Week 11 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field on ‘TNF’, with both teams vying for control of the NFC East.

Under head coach Dan Quinn, the Commanders have been competitive all season, holding the division lead until last week’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Meanwhile, the Eagles capitalized on Washington’s slip, taking over the top spot with a dominant victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Washington has been a formidable surprise this season, thanks to the emergence of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. However, Daniels struggled to find his rhythm in last week's game against Pittsburgh, where he was limited to just five rushing yards after averaging over 51 per game. Forced to rely on his arm, Daniels completed 17 of 34 passes for 202 yards, unable to lead his team past a tough Steelers defense.

The Commanders now face an Eagles team that has had the upper hand in recent encounters. Philadelphia has won five of the last six matchups, outscoring Washington 162-137 during this stretch. The Eagles currently hold a two-game win streak, with the last two games decided by narrow margins of 38-31 and 34-31, adding intensity to this NFC East rivalry.

Historically, however, Washington leads the all-time series 89-84-5, a rivalry that dates back to their first meeting on October 21, 1934. In that initial showdown, the Boston Redskins defeated the Eagles 6-0 at Fenway Park, with players like Ed Storm and coach Lud Wray leading Philadelphia, while Cliff Battles and coach William Henry Dietz led the Boston side.

The Eagles come into this game with a potent offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and former Giants running back Saquon Barkley. Since joining Philadelphia in the offseason, Barkley has been a powerful force, already surpassing his 2023 rushing totals with 991 yards through nine games. With Philadelphia undefeated in Barkley’s 100-yard games, Washington’s defense will need to step up to limit his impact and keep Hurts from finding additional openings in the Commanders' defensive line.

This matchup will offer both teams a chance to make a statement in the division. For the Commanders, reclaiming the NFC East lead means overcoming recent losses to Philadelphia and reasserting dominance in the historic rivalry. With everything on the line, fans can expect a fiercely contested game as both teams battle for divisional control.
