Pastel color + cute coffee shop.

The newest coffee shop in St. Petersburg is a little bit of colorful paradise, mixed with art deco themes, and most importantly, good coffee.

I don’t ordinarily ask the creatives I interview which design trends are gay. In fact, I would have guessed questions like that are offensive. But when talking to Nicholas Scheppard and Jenson Titus, Founders, Co-Owners, and comedians who paint at Very Gay Paint, it feels like the right thing to do. Helvetica? One of Detroit’s newest hotels is delightfully stuck in the 1920s and 1930s — in a good way. Gold tassels dangling from furnishings and lampshades and pom-pom bedspread trim are just two clues.

The starting point for the conception was visiting the location of the project, none of the project team members had been to Solan before. We wanted to immerse ourselves in the context of the city, understand what it looks like from the inside, and, of course, get to know its inhabitants.
