People’s Choice and Heritage Bank merged in March 2023 to create Heritage and People’s Choice Limited - a strong national mutual alternative to the big banks. After the member endorsed merge, time was taken to discuss and consult with our members and teams to determine the future of the bank. From this People First Bank has emerged - a national mutual offering a compelling alternative to the listed banks
We are now on an exciting journey to bring together our products, services and technology under a single brand.
People First Bank - our new brand - says exactly what we’re all about: people.
What happens next?
For now, both the Heritage Bank and People’s Choice brands will continue to operate as usual and there is no need for existing members to do anything.
We’re taking a phased approach to introducing all aspects of the new brand starting with our sponsorship and community initiatives.
While our name and brand will change, our commitment to our people and local communities as well as our dedication to serving our members stays the same.
We’re in the process of updating our People’s Choice Credit Union and Heritage Bank branches to reflect the People First Bank brand. This is a gradual process, and we will let members know when their local branch will be rebranded.
While the updated branches will showcase our exciting new brand, all products, services and advice obtained in those branches will continue to be provided by Heritage and People’s Choice Ltd trading as ‘People’s Choice Credit Union’ or ‘Heritage Bank’.

Originally known as the Heritage Bank Photographic Awards, the newly named People First Bank Photographic Awards are open to professional and amateur photographers.
With no cost to enter, this competition encourages photographers all over Australia to explore their surroundings and capture their own little piece of history. With a massive prize pool of over $50,000 across a range of categories and awards, the People First Bank Photographic Awards is one of the most lucrative in the country.
People First Bank Foundation
As a key milestone in the successful merger between Heritage Bank and People’s Choice Credit Union, we are very excited to announce that we have rebranded the Foundation to align with the new name of the Bank. Our focus and philosophy of support has not changed. We are still passionate about supporting high quality programs that create long lasting positive impacts by reaching people in need in the communities we serve.
The future is bright. Just like the Bank, the merger allows us to have a more national presence. This already can be seen in the selection of our 2024 charity partners, where we have supported programs right across the People First Bank footprint.
People First Community Lottery
Originally known as the People's Choice Community Lottery, the People First Community Lottery gives local sporting clubs, schools, charities, volunteer groups and other not-for-profit community groups the opportunity to raise funds and achieve fundraising goals.
Since its inception in 1984, the Community Lottery has helped to raise more than $22 million for community groups . People First Bank will continue this legacy.
People First Bank, along with our proud business and media partners facilitate the lottery administration, advertising, prizes and tickets, so that the community groups participating can pocket 100% of every $2 ticket sold. We are proud to share that this year our charity partner is Starlight Children’s Foundation.

People First Bank and Western Bulldogs
We are delighted to kick off another exciting year of partnership with the Western Bulldogs with our new brand.
This relationship began with People's Choice in 2017, and People First Bank is proud to continue on, with 2024 marking our 8th year of partnering with the Club.
This partnership aligns two like-minded organisations with similar goals and values. People First Bank and Western Bulldogs both have a strong commitment to local communities and are dedicated to giving back to their members.
