Penn State redshirt senior+ defensive tackle Hakeem Beamon is no longer with the program, a team spokesperson confirmed to PennLive on Friday night. Blue-White Illustrated first reported the news.
Beamon was a former starter for the Nittany Lions, amassing 18 starts across the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He had 37 appearances in his career, including all eight games this season.
However, Beamon‘s role steadily diminished this season behind stalwarts Dvon J-Thomas, Zane Durant and Coziah Izzard. The emergence of Old Dominion transfer Alonzo Ford has also contributed to crowding the rotation at defensive tackle.
According to Pro Football Focus, Beamon played 23 snaps in the season opener at West Virginia and 20 against UCLA, but he played 10 or fewer snaps in each of Penn State’s last three games.

The Virginia native had an up-and-down career in Happy Valley, as he spent the entire 2021 season on the developmental squad for undisclosed reasons. He had also struggled to gain the desired weight the Penn State coaching staff wanted over his career, though he bulked up to 296 pounds this season.
The Nittany Lions are 7-1 this season and ranked No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings. A White Out matchup with 5-4 Washington kicks off at 8 p.m. Saturday on Peacock.
