Oregon sophomore forward Mookie Cook is entering the transfer portal and will leave the Ducks basketball program, he announced on Tuesday.

Cook, a sophomore and former McDonald’s All-American and four-star recruit, said after Oregon’s NCAA Tournament loss to Arizona on Sunday that he was open to a return to Eugene, but he will now seek new opportunities elsewhere.

After missing all but five games his freshman season due to an ankle injury, Cook is expected to retain three years of eligibility at his future destination, should the NCAA grant his medical hardship waiver.

Cook appeared in 24 games this season for the Ducks, averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds in just 4.3 minutes per game. He had six points and a steal in the Ducks' NCAA Tournament-opening win over Liberty.

Cook is from Portland but attended Compass Prep in Arizona, where he was a four-star recruit and the No. 30 overall player in the 2023 class according to 247Sports' composite rankings.
