About the Journal

ICV 2016: 83.95

Journal of Geology & Geophysics is an open access and peer-reviewed journal that publishes quality research in all aspects of Geology, Mining, Petroleum Geology, Geomorphology, Gravity & Magnetic, Geoinformatics. The journal offers Multidisciplinary research in all the areas of Geosciences including Geo-engineering, Hydrogeology, Mining, and Sequence Stratigraphy, involving theoretical and practical perspectives.

The journal uses the Online Manuscript Submission System for online manuscript submission, review and tracking the article status. The editorial board members of Geology & Geophysics: Current Research or outside experts review manuscripts; at least two independent reviewer’s approval followed by the editor is required for the acceptance of any citable manuscript.

Geology

Geology is the study of the Earth, processes involved in them, materials from it is made, its history, structure and its effect on humans and life in general. Rocks, crystals, mountains, earthquakes, volcanoes, rivers, glaciers, landslides, floods, and many other subjects fall into this broad field of research.

Exploration Geophysics

Geophysics is an interdisciplinary physical science concerned with the nature of the earth and its environment and apply the knowledge and techniques of physics, mathematics, and chemistry to understand the structure and dynamic behavior of the earth and its environment. Petroleum; Environmental; Mining Geophysics are the popular branches.

Hydrogeology

Hydro-geology is the field of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the earth crust. Hydrology has evolved as a science in order to understand the complex water systems of the Earth and help to solve water problems.

US Geological Survey

The US Geological Survey is a science organization that provides impartial information on the health of our ecosystems and environment, the natural hazards that threaten us, the natural resources we rely on. It serves the Nation by providing reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth, minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters, manage water, biological, energy, and mineral resources.

Oklahoma Geological Survey

The Geology of Oklahoma is characterized by Carboniferous rocks in the east, Permian rocks in the center and towards the west, and a cover of Tertiary deposits in the panhandle to the west. The Oklahoma Geological Survey considers it very likely that the majority of recent earthquakes, particularly those in central and north-central Oklahoma.

US Geological Earthquake

The US Geological  Earthquake Hazards Program is part of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP), established by Congress in 1977. We monitor and report earthquakes, assess earthquake impacts and hazards, and research the causes and effects of earthquakes.

Geological Engineering

Engineering Geology uses applications of the geological sciences and engineering to study geological factors like location, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.  Geological engineers find the best ways to use the earth’s resources to solve technical problems while protecting the environment.

Forensic Geology

Forensic Geology is concerned with the application of geological data and techniques in relation to issues that may come before a court of law. It is closely related to environmental forensics, forensic engineering, and forensic archaeology. Environmental forensics is somewhat broader in scope than forensic geology. It frequently involves investigations of environmental problems such as water and air pollution.

Deposition Geology

A deposition is a geological process in which sediments, soil, and rocks are added to a landform or land mass. Previously eroded sediment will be transported by wind, ice, water which loses its kinetic energy in fluid and thus deposited. Geologic deposition includes Beach sand, lake mud, sand dunes, glacial moraines, river deltas, gravel bars, and coal deposits.

Chemical Geology

Chemical Geology is an international journal that publishes original research papers on the isotopic and elemental geochemistry and geochronology of the Earth. The Journal is concerned with chemical processes in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology, low- and high-temperature aqueous solutions, biogeochemistry, and the environment.

Geological Rock

In geology, rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of one or more minerals or mineraloids. The common rock granite is a combination of the quartz, feldspar and biotite minerals. There are three major groups of rocks: Igneous rocks, Sedimentary rocks, and Metamorphic rocks. Petrography is a rock identification process, which uses concise, accurate descriptions of the physical characteristics of rocks.

Nonconformity Geology

An unconformity is a contact between two rock units in which the upper unit is usually much younger than the lower unit. There are three forms of unconformities: disconformity, nonconformity, angular unconformity. A nonconformity exists between sedimentary rocks and metamorphic or igneous rocks when the sedimentary rock lies above and was deposited on the pre-existing and eroded metamorphic or igneous rocks.

Structural Geology

Structural Geology is a subfield within geology which focuses on the study of geological structures. The study of plate tectonics is a form of structural geology. Structural geologists can draw connections between similar geologic formations, explore the conditions which must have been present when various geological features formed, and learn about ongoing geological processes such as mountain formation.

Fast Editorial Review Process

Journal of Geology & Geophysics is participating in the Fast Editorial Execution and Review Process (FEE-Review Process) with an additional prepayment of $99 apart from the regular article processing fee. Fast Editorial Execution and Review Process is a special service for the article that enables it to get a faster response in the pre-review stage from the handling editor as well as a review from the reviewer. An author can get a faster response of pre-review maximum in 3 days since submission, and a review process by the reviewer maximum in 5 days, followed by revision/publication in 2 days. If the article gets notified for revision by the handling editor, then it will take another 5 days for external review by the previous reviewer or alternative reviewer.

Acceptance of manuscripts is driven entirely by handling editorial team considerations and independent peer-review, ensuring the highest standards are maintained no matter the route to regular peer-reviewed publication or a fast editorial review process. The handling editor and the article contributor are responsible for adhering to scientific standards. The article FEE-Review process of $99 will not be refunded even if the article is rejected or withdrawn for publication.

The corresponding author or institution/organization is responsible for making the manuscript FEE-Review Process payment. The additional FEE-Review Process payment covers the fast review processing and quick editorial decisions, and regular article publication covers the preparation in various formats for online publication, securing full-text inclusion in a number of permanent archives like HTML, XML, and PDF, and feeding to different indexing agencies.
