Ocala courts: Five-year prison term for man accused of soliciting minors online for sex

Here's a look at some criminal cases that were addressed the week of Jan. 6 at the Marion County Judicial Center in Ocala.

State v. Kenneth Allen Tabor

Judge: Circuit Judge Barbara Kissner Kwatkosky

Lawyer: Assistant Public Defender Julia Williamson.

Charge: Use computer to seduce/solicit/lure child. Two other charges โ€” travel to meet minor after use of computer to lure child and unlawful use of two-way communications device to facilitate felony โ€” were not pursued by prosecutors.

When was his court date? Jan. 7.

What happened? He entered a no contest plea, according to court records.

What was the sentence? Five years in prison. Tabor has 166 days of credit for time already served at the county jail while awaiting resolution of this case.

Any special condition? He must submit to a DNA test.

About the case: The 64-year-old man was among a group of men taken into custody by state, local and federal officials and accused of trying to pick up minors online for sex.

State v. Hakeem Dantae Webb

Judge: Circuit Judge Barbara Kissner Kwatkosky.

Lawyers: Assistant Public Defender Julia Williamson and Assistant State Attorney Samantha Wahba.

Charges: Burglary of a structure, burglary of an occupied structure, grand theft, criminal mischief and resisting an officer without violence.

Reason for court? Pre-trial docket for Jan. 7.

Was Webb in court? No. His lawyer told the judge she heard from her client and told him to come to court so they can resolve his cases. However, Williamson told the court she had not heard from Webb since that conversation. The judge issued a warrant for Webb's arrest.

What's next? Whenever Webb, 33, is apprehended or surrenders, he will be held at the county jail until his next court date.

About the case: Authorities arrested 31-year-old Johnnyย Martell and Webbย in 2024 and accused them of stealing multiple ATM machines from businesses. A couple of other ATM machines were vandalized, law enforcement officials said. Martell is also wanted for not appearing for his court date, according to documents.

State v. Christian Patrick Parker

Judge: Circuit Judge Robert Hodges.

Lawyers: Assistant State Attorney Adam Smith and Ocala defense lawyer David Mengers.

Charges: Vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid involving death.

Was there a hearing for Parker? Yes, an arraignment was held Jan. 7.

What was the outcome? Prosecutors said they officially are filing the charges against the 25-year-old.

Did Parker show up for court? No. His lawyer waived his presence.

The next step? Parker will appear for a trial priority hearing scheduled for April.

About the case:Ariel Hartfordย was in the crosswalk in the 10400 block of U.S. 441 South trying to cross the street in the city limits of Belleview when a car, allegedly driven by Parker, hit and killed her last month. Belleview officers found Parker and arrested him.
