Nickelodeon India Premieres 'The Adventures of Bernie' on Sonic

Nick News Brief: Nickelodeon Sonic in India will premiere the brand new animated series The Adventures of Bernie on Thursday 15th August 2024 at 12:30pm! Based on the hit animated series Zig & Sharko, the slapstick comedy-adventure series follows Bernie the hermit crab, who, after failing to help Zig eat Marina, gets lost at the bottom of the ocean and searches for any plans to return to the island.

Nickelodeon India Gears Up to Launch Two New Homegrown IPs – 'Abhimanyu Ki Alien Family' and 'Kanha – Morpankh Samrat'

Abhimanyu Ki Alien Family, the only alien show in the kids’ category, is a sci-fi comedy series based around the alien Abhimanyu and his team of three, who embark on a mission to learn about the unique cultures and ways of life on Earth. In the series, the alien team faces troubles as they try to blend in with humans in their human form, make friends, hide their identity, and overcome adverse situations and threats. The show explores a 3D animation format with 2D render.

Kanha – Morpankh Samrat on the other hand is a captivating mythological 2D-animated series that chronicles the adventures of young Krishna and his famous tales, showcasing his journey as a son, warrior, hero, friend, and brings alive his playful and mischievous antics.

Nickelodeon Continues to Dominate As India’s No.1 Kids’ Network

Nickelodeon India has cemented its position as the No.1 Kids’ franchise for over three consecutive years through storytelling and Innovation

Nick and Sonic establish themselves among the top channels in the kids’ genre, with Nick leading the category for the 8th consecutive year


Engaging young viewers with indigenous stories and adorable characters, India’s leading Kids’ entertainment franchise, Nickelodeon, continues to take on the leadership mantle as the most preferred and No 1 kids’ entertainment franchise in India. Riding on the triumph of its diverse IPs, the Nickelodeon franchise continues to have a soaring reach of over 44 million kids each week, enjoying the highest viewership market share of 31% (YTD) within the category.

Nickelodeon Sonic India Premieres 'The Smurfs'

Blue and small, and standing only three apples tall, The Smurfs are set to make their debut on Nickelodeon Sonic in India on Monday 13th June 2022, airing weekdays at 11:30am! The CG-animated series follows the beloved characters embarking upon rousing adventures.


The original series marks the return of the globally renowned characters to television for the first time in nearly 40 years and follows Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and the other inhabitants of Smurf Village on all-new adventures, packed with humor, heart and high-stakes action. In the premiere episode, “Smurf-Fu,” when Smurfette rescues Brainy from a giant snake, the other Smurfs ask her to teach them “Smurf-Fu.” Next in, “Diaper Daddy,” when everyone is tired of changing Baby’s diapers, Handy decides to invent a robot that will do the job.


The voice cast pushing the charm and absurdity of the original comics to even greater heights in the U.S.-English dub includes: David Freeman (7 Promises) as Papa Smurf, the father figure keeping the other Smurfs in line; Berangere McNeese (Matriochkas) as Smurfette, a curious Smurf who is always ready to take part in new adventures; Lenny Mark Irons (No Man’s Land) as Gargamel, a conniving human wizard with a bottomless thirst to capture Smurfs; Youssef El Kaoukibi (NRJ Belgium) as Brainy, who considers himself the smartest of the bunch; and Catherine Hershey (Boundary Games) as Willow, the brave and wise matriarch of a new tribe of girl Smurfs.


Nickelodeon, LAFIG Belgium and IMPS announced a second season (26 episodes) pickup of the original CG-animated The Smurfs television series earlier this year. The all-new season will continue to follow the Smurfs on a variety of adventures, including time traveling, inventing a magic camera, accidental body swapping, and more. No release date was shared.

Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Pictures also announced at the same time that they have formed a deal with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS to produce multiple feature films based on The Smurfs, the iconic characters and stories created by Belgian artist Pierre Culliford, also known as Peyo. The first project under the new partnership is an animated musical feature film set to begin production in 2022 with a planned release on December 20, 2024.

The Smurfs CG-animated series acquisition is overseen by Layla Lewis, Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions and Content Partnerships and Dana Cluverius, Senior Vice President, Current Series Animation for Nickelodeon.

The brand-new series underscores Nickelodeon’s strategy to be the home of the biggest franchises kids and families love. The Smurfs expands Nickelodeon’s growing portfolio of influential properties that already includes SpongeBob SquarePants, The Patrick Star Show, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Blue’s Clues & You!, the all-new animated Star Trek: Prodigy series and the Transformers co-production, EarthSpark.

The Smurfs is a Peyo Productions and Dupuis Audiovisuel production, in co-production with KiKA, Ketnet and RTBF, with the participation of TF1 and with the participation of Wallimage (La Wallonie), of Screen Flanders, of BNPPFFF and with the support of the Tax Shelter of the Belgian Government and the participation of the CNC.
