This fun for all ages, interactive dark ride is now open at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino on the world-famous Las Vegas strip. Visit SpongeBob and all of his friends in Bikini Bottom like never before in this engaging family ride experience.

SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride is a hilariously entertaining, interactive attraction sending guests through seafloor scenes brought to life through vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and vivid integrated projections, fully submersing riders in the nautical nonsense of SpongeBob SquarePants.

SpongeBob’s greedy boss, Mr. Krabs, launches the ride by inviting guests to play his new zany collection of ride-through-style midway games. As he welcomes everyone to his new carnival in Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and Patrick assist by delivering boxes of supplies to each game. When they accidentally grab a box of Krabby Patty ingredients, the hysterical best friend duo try to hide their mistake by loading the games with buns, patties, sea tomatoes and other food. Unfortunately, their error inspires Mr. Krabs’ arch-rival Plankton to hatch an evil plan to finally successfully steal the famous ‘Krabby Patty’ secret formula. The result is mad-cap mayhem for everyone!

Paramount Applies to Trademark 'Appa's Extraordinary Flight' Ride

Paramount Global has applied to trademark the title Appa's Extraordinary Flight with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)!

'Fly with Appa' ride at Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America

Paramount has applied to register Appa's Extraordinary Flight under NICE Class "41 - Education, entertainment, sporting and cultural services", for "Entertainment in the nature of an amusement park attraction, namely, an amusement park ride".

It's currently unknown whether Appa's Extraordinary Flight is connected to Fly with Appa, the brand new Avatar: The Last Airbender ride which opened in Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America in March this year, or a separate, still-to-be announced ride based on the beloved Nickelodeon property. It could also be for a similar ride as Fly with Appa, but for a different location, such as Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream.

Yip Yip! Nickelodeon Universe^® in Mall of America is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the newest Nickelodeon Universe attraction, Fly with Appa, on Saturday, March 23! The ceremony will take place all day, between 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Based off the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fly with Appa has riders climb aboard their very own sky bison and feel the exhilaration as they take to the skies—enjoying stunning aerial views while traveling up, down + all around.

Fly with Appa will require 6 points to ride, and have a minimum height requirement of 48″, or 36″ with a chaperone. Chaperone policy: A chaperone is defined as a person who is qualified to ride and who, in the opinion of the ride operator, is capable of controlling the actions of the unqualified rider. Required chaperone does not pay to ride.

It’s here! Today Sally Dark Rides, the globally recognized leader in creating family dark rides and attractions, is celebrating the grand opening of its newest interactive adventure “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride!”

The zany underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends has come to life in an entirely new way exclusively at the family-favorite resort Circus Circus Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first of its kind themed-interactive ride starring SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends has been the talk of the town – and the industry – since it was announced in November 2023.

Riders are immersed in the world of Bikini Bottom, complete with vibrant sets, special effects and vivid integrated projections. The fully interactive new ride includes six of Sally’s world-class animatronics, bringing the iconic SpongeBob characters to life in a whole new way.

'SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride' Animatronics

Throughout the interactive attraction, Mr. Krabs invites riders to try their luck at a collection of midway games as they move through his new money-making carnival. SpongeBob and Patrick who are trying to assist him, accidentally grab boxes of Krabby Patty ingredients instead of the carnival game equipment. The devious Plankton sees an opportunity to steal the 'Krabby Patty' recipe and the result is a hilarious experience for guests of all ages.

“SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride” seamlessly transports guests through 15 unique and colorful scenes on 5-passenger ride vehicles called “Carnival Carts.” Special effects include scent, multi-media projections, and interactive targets.

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 22, 2024 -- Circus Circus Las Vegas, a family-favorite resort, is unveiling the previously announced and highly anticipated, brand-new SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Dark Ride on Friday, March 1. Created by Sally Dark Rides and inspired by Nickelodeon's globally beloved animated series, the new $6 million amusement ride named 'SpongeBob's Crazy Carnival Ride' is a hilariously entertaining, interactive attraction that takes guests on a hijinks-filled ride through Bikini Bottom, brought to life through vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and vivid integrated projections, fully submersing riders in the nautical nonsense of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Riders will experience a one-of-a kind adventure through the world of SpongeBob SquarePants in a highly immersive way. The ride starts when Mr. Krabs invites guests to try their luck at his collection of zany ride-through carnival midway games, and his arch-rival Plankton hatches an evil plan to steal the 'Krabby Patty' secret formula once and for all. Nickelodeon Universe Opens New 'Dora the Explorer' Ride at Mall of America

Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America has opened a brand new family-friendly ride inspired by Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, Dora the Explorer!

Called "Boots' Banana Swing," visitors to the Nickelodeon-branded theme park are invited to "swing along with Boots high up in the rainforest treetops on this a-peeling ride that’ll have you saying, 'Oooh-oooh ahh-ahh!'" "Boots' Banana Swing" is described as a Happy Swing ride.

"Boots' Banana Swing" requires three points to ride, and has a height requirement of 31″–70″. Minimum height is 36″ or 31″ with a chaperone. Guests may not exceed 70″ in height. A chaperone is defined as a person who is qualified to ride and who, in the opinion of the ride operator, is capable of controlling the actions of the unqualified rider. Required chaperone does not pay to ride.

In celebration of the new attraction, guests were invited to a special grand opening event on Saturday, January 13. The first 100 guests got to ride "Boot’s Banana Swing" for free, and, visitors got to enjoy complimentary frozen banana treats and even have their photo taken with Boots!

The new ride comes as Nickelodeon relaunch the iconic Dora the Explorer franchise with a brand-new CG-animated series titled Dora, set to premiere on Paramount+ this Spring.

"Boots' Banana Swing" is one of two new attract8ions launching this year at Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America, with the Avatar: The Last Airbender-inspired "Fly with Appa" set to open this Spring.

"Yip Yip!" reads the official description for "Fly with Appa". "Climb aboard a flying sky bison and soar above the treetops. These sky bison use airbending to fly by creating powerful gusts of wind with their tails. Experience unforgettable views as you go up, down, and all around."

When open, "Fly with Appa" will require 6 points to ride, and have a minimum height requirement of 48″, or 36″ with a chaperone. Like Dora, Avatar: The Last Airbender is also set to make a major comeback, first with a new live-action series on Netflix, followed by a series of Avatar: The Last Airbender projects for both theaters and streaming services.

Construction on the new Dora the Explorer and Avatar: The Last Airbender rides commenced during Fall 2023. To make way for the rides, the Bubble Guppies "Guppy Bubbler" moved to a new section of the park.

New Paramount Theme Park in China to Feature Nickelodeon Land With Real Life Krusty Krab

Paramount is set to open a brand new theme park in China. Titled Paramount Park Kunming, the park will feature rides and areas based on many of Paramount's properties and brands, including Nickelodeon!

The major $8 billion (RMB51 billion) Paramount theme park resort and arts complex will be built on the shores of Dianchi Lake in southwestern Yunnan province’s capital city Kunming. The resort itself will span an area of 643 acres out of the broader Paramount-branded development project’s total 1,899 acres, making it Hollywood’s third largest theme resort in China, following Shanghai Disneyland, which clocks in at 963 acres, and the 990-acre Universal Beijing Resort.

Paramount Park Kunming will be divided up into six areas and a central lagoon.

One of the park's areas will be the Nickelodeon-branded "Nick Joy City", which will feature three of Nickelodeon's most popular properties: SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and PAW Patrol.

According to a draft of the "Paramount Theme Park Construction Project Environmental Impact Report" shared online by the Kunming Dianchi National Tourism Resort Management Committee last year, Nick Joy City will boast:

- A SpongeBob ride called the 'Bikini Bottom Bubble Battle', which is possibly a Rafting Ride by abc rides. The ride's area is 3950 square meters;

- A ride named 'Fiery Fist O' Pain'. There are no ride details but it is assumed to be a wooden roller coaster based on the ride shown in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Roller Cowards".

- A SpongeBob-themed ride named 'Spinning Jellyfish', although no details are currently available;

- There also seems to be rides named 'Mrs. Puff's Boating School' and something that roughly translates to 'Mr. Krabs versus Plankton';

- 'Barg'N-Mart', which seems to be the SpongeBob gift shop;

- There's also a 'Glove World' kiosk, a SpongeBob show of some sort, and last but not least 'The Krusty Krab' is listed as a restaurant;

- For PAW Patrol fans, there's a bumper car ride, The Lookout, City Hall, a kiosk, a lake, and a show;

- For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, there's a show that roughly translates to 'Turtle Time is Up!' and a ride named 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Training Camp' that's 3190 square meters in size;

- Nick Joy City also has a general Nickelodeon 4D theater and store.

The Environmental Impact Report states that the total construction period for the theme park is 48 months, with plans to start construction in December 2023 and finish it in December 2027, and then open the theme park around February 2028.

"Nick Joy City" replaces "Peanuts Town", which what was originally planned for that area of the park. Based on the Peanuts comic strip, the area would have been named "Wonderland".

Paramount Park Kunming will also feature rides and attractions based on other Paramount favorites, such as Star Trek and Mission: Impossible.

Star Trek will have an entire zone that’s dedicated to the iconic franchise. It’s aptly called the Final Frontier, and will bear sci-fi attractions.

The details of the park are still scarce, but some of the placeholder names of the futuristic rides to get Trekkies all hyped up include the Warp Drive roller coaster, and the Space Dive drop towers.

There will also be a dedicated Adventure City full of callbacks to blockbuster thrillers like Mission: Impossible. There will also be an interactive IMF Spy Training Facility that’ll put the agility, flexibility, and determination of visitors to the test.

Other areas that are in the works include Dinotopia, a zone which is based on a book where humans coexist in harmony alongside intelligent dinosaurs. Visitors will also be able to splash down in water rides over at the Tomb Raider-inspired Lost Kingdom.

Back in November 2021, the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning announced plans to revise the land where the theme park's located from being categorized as a heritage site to "recreational and sports land and commercial business land". Also, plans are underway to relocate the small village located on part of the theme park's land.

Final Frontier - based on "Star Trek" in which guests are recruited to "boldly go to places where no park guests have gone before"

Lost Kingdom - features the "Tomb Raider" franchise and includes a water ride that takes place on the "Motagua River" and a coaster named "Escape from Emerald Mountain"

The scrapped "Peanuts Town"

Dinotopia - based on James Gurney's "Dinotopia" fantasy book series in which humans live in harmony alongside intelligent dinosaurs

Paramount Boulevard - the park's Hollywood-themed "Main Street" entrance area with stores and restaurant

Adventure City - features Paramount's action movies, such as "Mission: Impossible" and "The Italian Job"

Sally Dark Rides, Paramount Global and Nickelodeon Prepare to Take Guests Under the Sea with World’s First SpongeBob SquarePants Dark Ride!

‘SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride’ will be a hilariously entertaining, interactive attraction sending guests through seafloor scenes brought to life through vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and vivid integrated projections, fully submersing riders in the nautical nonsense of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Riders will experience the beloved and renowned SpongeBob SquarePants in a highly immersive way. The ride starts when Mr. Krabs invites guests to try their luck at his collection of zany ride-through carnival midway games, and his arch-rival Plankton hatches an evil plan to steal the ‘Krabby Patty’ secret formula once and for all. With five people seated per vehicle, guests can experience the sensory-engaging journey through SpongeBob’s world.

Live from IAAPA Expo 2023, Global Dark Ride Creator and Beloved Turkish Theme Park Sign Contract to Build the First-Ever SpongeBob SquarePants-Themed Dark Ride outside of the United States

Jumping jellyfish! Sally Dark Rides, a globally recognized leader in creating family dark rides and attractions, announced its continued collaboration with Paramount Global and Nickelodeon to develop and install the first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants dark ride outside of the United States at The Land of Legends Theme Park in Turkey. The project was formalized as the companies gathered in the Sally Dark Rides exhibit booth at IAAPA Expo 2023 to officially sign the contract.

Sally has quickly become immersed into the nonsensical nautical world of SpongeBob SquarePants with its current work on the first-ever “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride” family dark ride, which will debut at Circus Circus Las Vegas in early 2024. The successful partnership Sally has built with Paramount has inspired both to seek additional opportunities for SpongeBob-themed dark rides.

The Land of Legends, the popular entertainment theme park located near the coast of Turkey, approached Paramount at the right time, and the idea to bring a SpongeBob SquarePants experience to Eastern Europe will soon be a reality. The popular family destination welcomes almost two million guests each year, and features a collection of over 20 rides and over 40 water slides.

“As we worked with Sally Dark Rides on this dark ride attraction for SpongeBob SquarePants at Circus Circus Las Vegas, we knew we wanted to do more – create more opportunities to bring this delightful, unique ride to other markets across the globe. After all, SpongeBob fans are everywhere,” said Ty Granaroli, Executive Vice President (EVP), Themed Entertainment, Paramount. “This opportunity with The Land of Legends is perfect. It’s a beautiful park, perfectly fit for a SpongeBob dark ride.”

“The Land of Legends is an integrated resort with a family theme park, retail area and hotels, welcoming guests from all over the world,” continued Fettah Tamince, Chairman of The Land of Legends. “For a long time we have wanted to collaborate with Paramount Global on Nickelodeon properties. This new dark ride is part of that collaboration. Sally is the leader in this field, creating rides that can be enjoyed by the whole family and experienced again and again. We are ready to bring the world of SpongeBob SquarePants and his wacky friends from Bikini Bottom to Turkey!”

The Land of Legends dark ride will have a similar storyline to the already announced “SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride”. It will feature the same vibrant sets, special effects, interactive multimedia components and animatronics, including a Mr. Krabs, like the one Sally unveiled on the IAAPA Expo tradeshow floor yesterday. Mr. Krabs starts the zany adventure by inviting ride guests to explore his new carnival on Bikini Bottom’s ocean floor. His lovable assistants, SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick are helping the carnival by stocking each game with supplies for the guests. In classic SpongeBob style, the pair of friends make a mistake and instead insert buns, patties, sea tomatoes and other ingredients that make the famous “Krabby Patty.” Hilarious gameplay and memorable family fun quickly ensues.
