We have just received the Nielsen ratings for our latest premiere episode (Sunday, Jan. 6) of Rainbow Rangers on Nick Jr., which generated our highest premiere episode rating to date with 455,000 viewers!

The premiere episodes are broadcast on Sundays at 11:30 AM, and the encore episodes are broadcast Monday through Friday in the afternoon. The average ratings increased 29% across all demos versus the previous top-rated episode of Rainbow Rangers. Retention from our lead in, Shimmer and Shine, against our key demos, Girls ages 2-5 and Boys ages 2-5, increased 142% and 125% respectively. Simply put, this could not possibly be better news! More viewers, more engagement!

The demo split between boys and girls continues to be very even (48-52 split), which again makes Rainbow Rangers a very desirable show across the board.

Portrait Of: ‘Taina’ and the Love of Nostalgia TV | Latino USA

In the 90s, tax lawyer Maria Perez-Brown made a career switch from law to entertainment, specifically children’s television. She’s the creator of two prominent multicultural shows for Nickelodeon: Taina and Gullah Gullah Island.


In the latest episode of NPR's Latino USA podcast, the show focuses on the legacy and nostalgia of Taina. The show, which premiered in January 14, 2001, was about a 15-year-old Latina from Queens who attended the Manhattan High School of the Performing Arts and constantly daydreamed of being a star. She’s portrayed by Christina Vidal.

The show touched on themes of family, culture and what it’s like being a Nuyorican teen living in between two worlds. While the show only ran for 26 episodes over two seasons, Taina is seared into the memories of many who grew up watching it, because at the time it was rare to see an authentic portrayal of what it was like to be a Nuyorican teen.

“Taina for me was my alter ego,” says creator Maria Perez-Brown. “I felt that Taina reflected the dreams that every young Latina has to aspire to be something and that something doesn’t only have to be an athlete or a movie star. She had a passion for something and she wasn’t going to stop at anything until she accomplished her goals.”

Maria Hinojosa sits down with the award-winning show creator to talk about the show’s surprisingly long legacy and about working to diversify children’s television in the early aughts.

Nickelodeon International’s Together For Good and African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) recently launched the second episode from their first collaboration: the Together for Good Wildlife Special, an educational mini-series created to inspire kids to raise awareness about endangered wildlife and empower them to become change-makers.

Nickelodeon's Together for Good Wildlife Special Episode Two brings together political leaders, environmental heroes and some of Nickelodeon's finest to support and protect endangered animals all over the world. The specials shows projects in action in Africa and hear from the communities near those animals in Africa. Episode two also invites viewers to join Alex Hook (I Am Frankie) and MaeMae Renfow (Hunter Street) as they travel to New York to join Daniella Monet (Victorious, Paradise Run), who moderated a one-of-a-kind panel about endangered animals during the United Nations General Assembly brought together by Nickelodeon’s Together for Good and the African Wildlife Foundation, which took questions sent in from Nickelodeon viewers across the world and put them to experts from all sides of the conservation campaign. Together they discuss and find out what we can all do to help protect endangered wildlife all over the world!

In Together For Good Wildlife Special episode one, Nickelodeon star Breanna Yde (School of Rock) will guide young viewers on a journey through Uganda as she discovers key conservation and environmental challenges, and hears from heroes who work daily to protect at-risk wildlife including lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, elephants and chimpanzees. The mini-series and supplementing digital vignettes will tell the stories of real life heroes: guides, park rangers, detection dogs and their handlers – and show kids everywhere how they too can help from home with additional resources at http://wildlife.nickelodeon.tv.

The specials expands beyond linear with web and social activations where young viewers can learn more about and support at-risk wildlife. Kids can also participate in the #AWFRoarChallenge on social media, which encourages kids to take videos of themselves roaring in a funny effort to scare a friend. As the official campaign hashtag, #AWFRoarChallenge will also collate fun animal facts, ways to fundraise, and additional information about the plights of lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, elephants and chimpanzees, while showing kids that using their voice can spread the word and help save these animals from extinction.

IDW Games Announces TMNT Adventures 'Change is Constant' and 'City Fall' Board Games

IDW Games has today launched a new crowdfunding campaign for two brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles board games - which reached its goal in a matter of hours! COWABUNGA!


Earlier today, IDW launched the Kickstarter for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: City Fall and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Change is Constant, the first two games in their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures series.

The new TMNT games can either act as stand-alone games or expansions of IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past game, which came out back in 2017. While Shadows of the Past was a "1 vs. 4" game in which one player controlled the villains and everyone else controlled a hero, the new games offer an alternative ruleset in which the villains are controlled by set rules and mechanics.

Probably the most exciting part of the new game is the addition of a "Stan Sakai Pack," which includes alt-sculpts of the Heroes in a Half Shell as well as a playable Miyamoto Usagi character. Usagi is the star of Sakai's critically-acclaimed Usagi Yojimbo that has periodically crossed over with different TMNT series, including during a storyarc in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles season five. Getting to play as Usagi is almost enough reason to shell out money on its own.

Change is Constant will feature Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Casey Jones as the main heroes while City Fall stars April O'Neil, Splinter, Old Hob, Slash, and Angel Bridge. Both games also come with unique villains including Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder, Mousers, and Alopex.

Each game bundle will cost $125 USD and comes with their own set of Kickstarter exclusives. Purchasing Change is Constant will get you the Stan Sakai box, while City Fall comes with the "Deviation Pack" that has "dark" versions of the Turtles. Paramount Moves Ahead with Third 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Theatrical Movie

Paramount has launched development of a third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie — nearly three years after the last TMNT theatrical film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hit the big screen, reports Variety!


The studio has hired Andrew Dodge, whose credits include the Jason Bateman comedy Bad Words, to write the script. Producers are Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller through their Platinum Dunes production company. The movie is slated to start production later this year.

The studio is aiming to reboot the movie arm of the franchise through the third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project.

“We’re doing a reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Paramount. That is looking like production at the end of the year,” Form told Variety Sunday at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

“Did you just give something away?” Fuller said. “Oh boy. We did the preceding two Turtle movies, but I didn’t know that we were saying that we’re making it, but that’s good to know!”

Plans for a third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was first announced in June 2018.

Paramount has made two movies are based on the 1980s cult comic by Kevin Eastman and Kevin Laird about four wisecracking bandana-sporting pizza-loving turtle superhero brothers named after the Renaissance artists Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo and Donatello, who, mutated by an experimental ooze, use ninja skills acquired from their sensei, a mutated New York City rat named Splinter also mutated by the mysterious ooze, to protect New York City. Both films performed decently at the box office. The first movie, released in 2014, grossed $493 million worldwide while 2016’s installment, subtitled "Out of the Shadows", earned $245 million. Both films starred Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo and Jeremy Howard as Donatello, as well as their Megan Fox (Transformers) and Will Arnett (Bojack Horseman) as their human allies, April O'Neil and Vern Fenwick, respectively. Both movies were also produced by Michael Bay with Platinum Dunes.

However, due to the sequel's lower gross, the future of the TMNT movie franchise was put into doubt, with producer Andrew Form saying back in October 2016 there were no new plans for the franchise, but with Jim Gianapulos stepping in as Paramount CEO, a push for more quality content across all of the studio’s films and franchises has factored into the planning for the Ninja Turtles.

New Line released three low-cost Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies using actors in practical suits in the early 1990s. The first film was a hit with $201 million worldwide, while the second grossed $78 million domestically, and the third took in $42 million.

Across six movies — five of them live-action, one a CG-animated big screen reboot that failed to take off in 2007 — the Turtles have earned more than $1 billion dollars in box office totals since their theatrical debut in 1990.

Dodge’s script for Bad Words was named to the Black List. He’s worked on Space Jam 2 and O’ Lucky Day. He is repped by CAA, Grandview and Gang Tyre.

Form and Fuller last produced horror hit A Quiet Place for Paramount, which has a sequel dated for 2020.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot joins Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures upcoming line-up of movies, including: Wonder Park (March 2019), live-action Dora the Explorer (August 2019), Are You Afraid Of The Dark? (October 2019), The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge (July 2020), and CG-animated/live action hybrid Rugrats (November 2020).

The news comes as Nickelodeon recently relaunched a refreshed TMNT animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which will follow the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City.
