A woman online shared a heartwarming story about finding an old video featuring a "random guy" in the background—only to realize that he would later become her fiancé.
Audrey Roberts, 30, was clearing out her phone when she stumbled upon a video she took of her best friend Abby and her partner at a sporting event. What caught her eye wasn't just the footage of her friends but a man in the background, who turned out to be her now-fiancé. Roberts spoke to Newsweek about the video, which she posted to TikTok receiving 4.6 million likes, and the unlikely journey that began for the couple afterward.
"She doesn't know it yet, but the random guy that looks at her in the background of this video will end up being her fiancé and she will quit her job and move across the world with him," Roberts captioned the video.

Roberts told Newsweek that she couldn't believe it when she spotted her fiancé, Ethan, in the video as she was clearing out old photos on her phone.
"I sent it to him and was like 'Oh my gosh, look at the date of this video, this is before we ever met,' Roberts said. "We were both shocked."
While the two didn't remember noticing each other the night of the video, they were bound to connect. Three months later, they officially met when Roberts went to see her friend at a restaurant. Ethan, a friend of her friend's fiancé, asked him for her Instagram.
"We 'met' three months after I filmed that video...I don't think anyone ever expected us to get together," Roberts said. "I never believed the whole 'love happens when you least expect it' saying until then, because I really never would've expected meeting him and this turning into such a special relationship."
From there, their relationship grew fast. Roberts, a nurse for seven years, had never lived further than 30 minutes from her small hometown in South Carolina. However, Ethan's decision to move to Europe to pursue his hockey career opened the door for a massive life change. Roberts moved with him to Budapest, Hungary, where they currently live.
@audreysadventures24 The invisible string theory is so real because I had no idea who the guy in the background (black suit dark hair) of the video was when I took this and we didn’t meet until months later (I was the one filming the video of my friend and her bf now fiancé)🥹😭 thanks to @abby Westlund ❤️😭 second video filmed by @sarahguberphotography 🤍#invisiblestring #shedoesntknowityet #trending #fyp #howwemet #Love #engaged #Relationship #hockey #hockeylife

Reflecting on their relationship, Roberts summed the transition up: "I'll never forget the last morning getting off work from my night shift and walking out of my job knowing I was about to move to another country with the love of my life."
Now, in Budapest, Roberts and Ethan are living out their dreams—traveling the world and soaking in the unique experience of living abroad together.
"It's such a full circle moment," Roberts said about the moment she realized Ethan had been in the background of the video months before they met.
"It's just been unreal," she added. "As someone who didn't even move away for college, if you ask anyone that knows me, they would tell you this change was much needed and it's been such a breath of fresh air for me...
"Also, getting engaged here will forever be one of my favorite memories because we love this city so much and we will always have this special memory to look back on one day."
