History was made in India, by India. But, perhaps not in the manner they may have expected.

New Zealand, led by the prowess of Ajaz Patel and Glenn Phillips, condemned India to an embarrassing 25-run defeat in the third and final Test in Mumbai today, as the hosts failed to chase down 147 runs to save face.

The defeat also brought about a humiliating 3-0 whitewash of the hosts, leaving them red-faced.

In fact, this is the first series whitewash suffered by India with more than three or more matches. The last time India were blanked at home was in 2000, when they lost 2-0 to South Africa.

Many expounded on the seemingly impossible odds that New Zealand overcame en route to their historic win.

Overjoyed by the event, Christopher Luxon, the PM of New Zealand, shared his ecstacy for all, hailing the Kiwis for pulling off ‘the greatest Test win’ in their cricketing history.

But, many were also left fuming at the Indian side, for their seeming lack of concentration and grit, as former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan stated on social media.

But as one may expect, the loss sent social media on a rampage, with fans, followers and spectators all lambasting the callous and careless nature of their batting today, which ultimately led to their demise.

This series loss definitely does not do any good for the morale of the Indian side as well, as they head to Australia shortly to embark on a fiery 5-match series against the mighty Aussies.
