'Embarrassing Display At Home': Irfan Pathan, Social Media Lambast IND After Humiliating Whitewash
Many expounded on the seemingly impossible odds that New Zealand overcame en route to their historic win, while many more lambasted the callous and careless nature of the Indian side.
History was made in India, by India. But, perhaps not in the manner they may have expected.
New Zealand, led by the prowess of Ajaz Patel and Glenn Phillips, condemned India to an embarrassing 25-run defeat in the third and final Test in Mumbai today, as the hosts failed to chase down 147 runs to save face.
The defeat also brought about a humiliating 3-0 whitewash of the hosts, leaving them red-faced.
In fact, this is the first series whitewash suffered by India with more than three or more matches. The last time India were blanked at home was in 2000, when they lost 2-0 to South Africa.
Many expounded on the seemingly impossible odds that New Zealand overcame en route to their historic win.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF NEW ZEALAND BEATING INDIA 3-0? 🙀Consider all this!!🔹 Since 1988, New Zealand Never won a Single Test in India.🔹 New Zealand Never won a single series in India in entire Test history.🔹 India weren’t whitewashed 0-3 in entire Test history.🔹 India…

Overjoyed by the event, Christopher Luxon, the PM of New Zealand, shared his ecstacy for all, hailing the Kiwis for pulling off ‘the greatest Test win’ in their cricketing history.
Well done to the @BLACKCAPS on the greatest test series victory New Zealand has ever achieved. Incredible!— Christopher Luxon (@chrisluxonmp) November 3, 2024
But, many were also left fuming at the Indian side, for their seeming lack of concentration and grit, as former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan stated on social media.
This is embarrassing display by team India at home. Lot to ponder over by the decision makers. Well done New Zealand on such a terrific performance.— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) November 3, 2024
But as one may expect, the loss sent social media on a rampage, with fans, followers and spectators all lambasting the callous and careless nature of their batting today, which ultimately led to their demise.
Don’t worry, Anushka. We are getting this whitewashed. #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/OhFuq89Jor— DJAY (@djaywalebabu) November 3, 2024
We switched from the golden era of the Indian team to the garbage era of the indian team. #INDvsNZ pic.twitter.com/4LVkUfH50E— Nikhil Gupta (@Nikhilgupta1104) November 3, 2024
First ODI series loss in Sri Lanka in 27 years. First Test series whitewash in India ever. Gautam Gambhir has made a rollicking start as Coach. 😀 #INDvsNZ— Sumanth Raman (@sumanthraman) November 3, 2024
Stop defending Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli blindly. Rohit has not played domestic since 2016 and Kohli since 2012. Sachin Tendulkar played Ranaji match till 40s and his last appearance was 15 days before he retire. Ask if Sachin can why can’t they. #INDvsNZ #INDvsNZTEST #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/j1daAx8KzM— Ganesh (@me_ganesh14) October 26, 2024
This series loss definitely does not do any good for the morale of the Indian side as well, as they head to Australia shortly to embark on a fiery 5-match series against the mighty Aussies.
