Get in the carriage,  it’s time for Bridgerton Season 3. Part 1 is now streaming, bringing all the swoons — and surprises — with it. And the Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 premiere is fast on its way. 

At the center of the ballroom will be wallflower (and secret scandal sheet writer) Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her longtime crush, world traveler Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). That means this spring will officially be filled with #Polin, as fans have nicknamed the duo, and you’re about to see Penelope and Colin in a whole new way when they step into the spotlight. As the trailer reveals, there may just be more than “friendship” brewing between them. When does Bridgerton Part 1 & 2 come out?

Bridgerton Season 3 is split into two batches, each of four episodes. Part 1 is now streaming and you can its first five minutes right here. Part 2 comes out on June 13.

Part 2 will pick up after the “cliffhanger” of the Part 1 ending, showrunner Jess Brownell reveals. “There is a natural structure to eight episodes, and we've done it actually every season, that Episode 4 ends on a big world-shifting midpoint,” she tells Tudum. “Viewers know that there's an extra thing dangling over Penelope and Colin that will provide conflict going into the back half.”

The latest photos give viewers glimpses all around Mayfair. Bridgerton book series author Julia Quinn is excited for book lovers to get their first look at one iconic scene from the series. Namely, the moment Penelope helps Colin dress his bleeding hand. 

“In the book, it’s where they have their first really deep conversation. In the show, it’s similar, but also it’s a very intimate thing to heal someone,” Quinn tells Tudum. “It forces them to be closer to each other than they normally are.” 

More new images show the lives of other Bridgertons, including matriarch Violet, along with Eloise, Benedict, and Francesca, whom showrunner and writer Brownell calls “the most different” of all the family’s siblings.

“She’s very introverted,” Brownell continues. “[She’s] really going to throw Violet for a loop because she’s not like her other kids, so it really challenges her parenting instincts.” 

On the Bridgerton brothers side of the family, Brownell teases that Anthony will be “protecting his peace” in Season 3. “It’s just so nice to have Johnny and Simone back. They really worked for their happy ending last season,” she says. “[Now] they are lovey-dovey. They are playful.” 

Outside of the Bridgertons, the photos nod toward a big change for Will Mondrich and his wife Alice.

What and who is Bridgerton Season 3 about? 

In the aftermath of Season 2’s Featherington Ball, Penelope is left heartbroken after overhearing Colin say to a group of bachelors that he would never court her. Penelope’s falling out with best friend Eloise (Claudia Jessie) in the Season 2 finale won’t help her mood either. But, at Tudum: A Global Fan Event, Coughlan assured viewers Penelope is ready for a scandalous new London season in Season 3.

“Polin stans, I see you!” Coughlan said from the Tudum stage in June. “This season Penelope returns to London determined to become a new woman with a new independence… We cannot wait to take you along for the carriage ride.” 

According to the official synopsis, Penelope enters Season 3 finally ready to give up her longtime crush on Colin. However, that doesn’t mean she’s done with love. Instead, Penelope has decided it’s time to take a husband — and preferably one who will give her the freedom to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from the prying eyes of her mother and sisters.

Yet, as the rest of the synopsis reads, “lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.”

What happens in the Bridgerton Season 3 trailer? 

Colin and Penelope take center stage in the new video, as they prepare for a new social season in Mayfair. Both show off a new look — and a new way of looking at each other. Loaded stares are ahead, fair reader. 

As Colin seems to question his feelings for his “friend” Penelope, she sets her sights on a charming new bachelor in the ton. You’ll have to watch the clip to meet a man so light on his feet he may just sweep Penelope off hers. But, the video asks, can Penelope really deny her attraction to Colin and his “sturdy” form? One late-night meeting in the mist suggests the answer isn’t so simple. 

Elsewhere in the clip, you’ll notice the rest of the Bridgerton family making waves of their own. Anthony and Kate enjoy wedded bliss. Eloise has a new friendship that’ll surely turn heads. When did Bridgerton Season 3 start filming? 

The gilded doors of Bridgerton Season 3 opened in July 2022; the cast announced the production news with a video nodding toward a beloved Season 2 finale moment. Bailey, who led Season 2 as the dashing Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, kicks off the clip by doing the hand gesture for 2 and turning it to 3. Anthony does a similar motion in Season 2, Episode 8 toward love interest Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) to “steady” her after a near-tragic fall.  

The rest of Bailey’s co-stars follow suit, including Jessie, Andoh, Gemmell, and Thompson. Finally, Newton pops up to make the 3 sign, only to open a carriage for the final star of the video, Coughlan, who’s gotten a serious style upgrade as Penelope. 

“Bridgerton Season 3 filming has officially begun,” she says before turning to Newton and asking, “You coming in?” Fans of Quinn’s Bridgerton books might be particularly excited to see this playful exchange — it’s a nod to Polin’s famously steamy carriage scene from the novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton. “I can’t confirm or deny what’s in [Season 3] and what isn’t... But from what I have heard, people are going to be extremely pleased,” Coughlan told Tudum in May.
