The Erie County Health Department and Erie County Community Health Center will expand the region’s access to comprehensive health care services with the opening of the new Sandusky Career Center School-Based Health Center, according to a news release.
Located within Sandusky Career Center, 4501 Venice Heights Blvd. in Sandusky, the School-Based Health Center will offer family practice services from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, the release said.
Dr. Kathleen Scroggins will lead the team at the School-Based Health Center.
This initiative underscores the Erie County Health Department’s commitment to ensuring that students and families have convenient access to essential health care services, according to the release.
“We are thrilled to partner with Sandusky Career Center to bring vital healthcare services directly to students as well as community members,” said Nicole Ziegler, chief health services officer at the Erie County Health Department, in the release.
The opening of this School-Based Health Center brings the Erie County Health Department’s total number of health center locations to eight.
The Erie County Health Department also operates a mobile health vehicle, which extends services to various community locations, ensuring that even more residents can receive the care they need, according to the release.
“This new (School-Based Health Center) is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to remove barriers to health care and promote the well-being of our community,” said Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health commissioner, in the release.
School-Based Health Centers are staffed by fully licensed professional providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals, the release said.
