Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 418 W. 15th St. in Lorain, is celebrating the Jubilee Year and will put an emphasis on those who work in the health care professions, according to a news release.
“Please join us during this Jubilee Yea 2025 for a special blessing of all who work in health care,” the release said. “Medical professionals exemplify what it means to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ by bringing hope to others by improving their health.
“Catholics are sacramental people who believe in the unity of body and soul. We deeply appreciate those who make sacrifices to help others feel their best.
“We hope our prayers will be a source of strength in this demanding line of work.”
Prayers and blessings will occur during the Mass at 4 p.m. April 5 and 10:30 a.m. April 6, according to the release.
The Jubilee Year is a special year of grace, in which the Church offers the faithful the possibility of obtaining plenary indulgences.
Traditionally, it begins just before Christmas and ends on the Epiphany of the following year.
In the United States, the Jubilee Year extends from the feast of the Holy Family from Dec. 29, 2024, until Dec. 28, 2025.
“We pray that the graces of this Jubilee Year will extend beyond our parish and into the community,” the release said. “Join us at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, which is designated by the Diocese of Cleveland as Lorain County’s 2025 pilgrimage church.”
