Things just went from bad to worse to for John Calipari and Arkansas.
CBS' Jon Rothstein reported Tuesday that star freshman guard Boogie Fland will miss the rest of the season with a hand injury.
The 5-star prospect leads all NCAA freshmen in total assists and in assist-turnover ratio and ranks second among the rookies in assists per game.
Fland had already been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against Georgia.
“His hand is pretty bad. Don’t know what we’ll do going forward,” Calipari said after the Hogs’ lost to Missouri on Saturday. “But we’ve got to make sure we get that thing right.”
Fland suffered the injury against Florida on Jan. 11.
Arkansas, which opened the season with a top-20 ranking and big expectations following Cal’s arrival, is 11-7 and 0-5 in the SEC.
Fland has been one of the few consistent bright spots for the Razorbacks, averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 36.5% from 3-point range.
He scored 20 points and had seven assists in a victory over Michigan at Madison Square Garden in December.
