Newsboy's horse racing selections for Monday's three meetings, plus Lingfield Nap

Newsboy reckons his Nap, Brinton, can make amends for a runner-up finish last week in the 5.17 at Lingfield and he also reckons Heartrate can repeat his previous score over course and distance at Wolverhampton (8.00)

BRINTON is fancied to atone for a near-miss at Wolverhampton a week ago by landing the Weekly £5 Free Bet With BetUK Classified Stakes (Div I) (5.17) at Lingfield Park today.

Successful in a similar event over a mile at Southwell three starts ago, the Jonathan Portman-trained daughter of Zoustar ran a creditable third in a handicap over an additional furlong and 104 yards at Wolverhampton next time out.

Last Monday, Brinton came within half a length of doubling her career tally in a classified stakes over Wolverhampton’s extended mile won by Quick Away. But my selection deserves extra credit.

Rob Hornby’s mount came from the back in a race where winner Quick Away, third Danehill Star and fourth home Lhebayeb held prominent positions from the start.

Brinton looks capable of lasting home over this sharp mile and a quarter, and another good account is on the cards.

At Wolverhampton’s evening fixture, HEARTRATE gets the vote to add to last month’s course-and-distance score when he takes on nine opponents for the Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap (8.00).

Mark Loughnane’s five-year-old got the better of the consistent Neptune Legend by a neck and a 3lb rise in the weights looks within range.
