A young bride-to-be has tragically died after falling from a rollercoaster in front of her devastated fiancé. The 24-year-old woman, named only as Priyanka was at the Fun and Food Village theme park near the Kapashera border, in Delhi, India, with her fiancé, Nikhil.

She boarded a swing ride which "malfunctioned" local sources said, causing the sales manager to plummet from a "significant height". A police spokesperson said: "During the roller-coaster ride, when the swing reached its peak, the stand broke, and Priyanka fell straight down". Priyanka was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries following the horror accident on on April 3, where she tragically died.

A police report said she had suffered an ENT bleed, a wound to her the right thigh, a puncture wound to her left leg, and multiple abrasions on the left knee and right wrist.

Nikhil had alerted both the authorities and Priyanka's family after the incident, and an investigation was launched.

Priyanka's brother Mohit has raised concerns about the safety measures at the water park, alleging negligence.

"After Priyanka fell, she was taken to the hospital late, due to which she lost her life," Mohit said.

He criticised the delayed response in getting Priyanka to the hospital and questioned why the "faulty" ride was operational.

A section of the park - including the swing rollercoaster - has been shut for repairs, a local source said. "Why were the amusement park swings opened if they needed to be repaired? They [the park authorities] are playing with people's lives in this situation," Mohat said.

The tragedy comes just months after Priyanka and Nikhil's engagement in February 2025.

The park has not responded to a request for comment. Last month, two students were left seriously injured after another funfair ride in India malfunctioned mid-air, causing a huge metal rod to come loose and crush the thrillseekers.

The terrifying accident took place at MGM Amusement Park in Chennai on Thursday, March 13. Shocking footage captured the moment the boat swung several feet into the air when a large metal rod suddenly detached and landed on the two riders.

A panicked woman was heard screaming at the operators to stop the ride immediately before one of the students was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries.

The college students were on a trip to the park when disaster struck. The second victim student was also injured but was later described as being in stable condition.

After the accident, Kanathur police registered a case against the amusement park, while three staff members linked to the ride’s operation were arrested.
