OAKLAND — An argument Thursday afternoon in East Oakland left a 48-year-old man shot and another man and a woman later arrested as the suspects, police said.
The wounded man was in stable condition at a hospital where he is being treated for a wound to his leg, authorities said.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue.
Authorities said the 48-year-old man had gotten into an argument with a 69-year-old man he apparently knew and a 44-year-old woman. Police have not yet said what the argument was about or what the relationship is between the older man and the woman.
The argument turned physical before the 69-year-old man allegedly pulled a gun and shot the 48-year-old man, authorities said. The 69-year-old man and the woman then fled the scene.
The woman was arrested a short time later leaving a home in the area while carrying a bag containing the gun believed used in the shooting, authorities said. The 69-year-old man was later arrested in the neighborhood.
The man was booked on suspicion of a variety of charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. He was being held at Santa Rita Jail in lieu of $370,000 bail. The woman was also arrested on suspicion of a variety of charges, including being an accessory to a felony and carrying a concealed firearm. She was being held at Santa Rita Jail in lieu of $240,000 bail. Both are due to be arraigned April 1.
