Three Lehigh Valley elementary schools made the top 100 elementary schools in the state, according to a new listing from U.S. News & World Report.
The publication named Jaindl Elementary School as No. 43 in its list, making it the highest-ranked Lehigh Valley elementary school. It is also ranked first among elementary schools in the Parkland School District.
Liberty Bell Elementary School in the Southern Lehigh School District and Cetronia School, also in Parkland School District, made the top 100 as well, at 66 and 72, respectively.
The publication said its ranking of elementary schools and middle schools are based on state assessment scores.
All three schools had “well above expectations” for math performance. Jaindl and Centralia had “well above expectations” for reading performance, while Liberty had “somewhat above expectations” for that same category.
The publication also ranked all the schools within their districts, so long as the district has three or more ranked elementary or middle schools.
The following Lehigh Valley elementary schools were ranked first in their districts:
- Allentown School District: Lehigh Parkway Elementary
- Bethlehem Area School District: Hanover Elementary
- Easton Area School District: Shawnee Elementary School
- East Penn School District: Wescosville Elementary School
- Nazareth Area School District: Lower Nazareth Elementary School
- Northampton Area School District: Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School
- Parkland: Jaindl Elementary School
- Wilson Area School District: Williams Township Elementary School
The publication ranked Pleasant Valley Elementary School in McMurray, Washington County, as the No. 1 elementary school in the state.
