About the research

How does the research work?

01.

Methodologies

The research will be conducted online through a non-probabilistic convenience sample, where each participant can complete the questionnaire. Two questionnaires will be used: one for completion by autistic respondents over 18 years of age who are able to respond independently, and another for completion by the caregiver of an autistic individual who is under 18 years of age or unable to respond to the instrument.

02.

Participants

The questionnaires will consist of the following groups of items:

a) Individuals aged 18 years or older with a formal diagnosis of autism;

b) Caregivers of individuals with autism who are under 18 years of age or adults who are unable to respond to the research independently.

03.

Questionnaire

Two questionnaires will be used, provided via an online platform (Google Forms): one for completion by autistic respondents over 18 years old who can respond independently, and another for completion by the caregiver of an autistic individual who is either a minor or otherwise unable to complete the instrument independently.

Who can participate in the research:

- Sociodemographic profile of the autistic individual or their caregiver;

- Questions related to the autism diagnosis;

- Questions related to education, therapies, and medical follow-up;

- Questions related to autism and the COVID-19 pandemic period.

04.

Results

We believe that the research results will help us better understand the situation of people with autism in the Federal District and Brazil, develop effective public policies to meet the population's needs, and develop care strategies and services for this population, among other things.
