MANILA, Philippines — Signal No. 5 has been raised over the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan as "Ofel" has further intensified into a super typhoon, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the affected towns were Santa Ana, Gonzaga and Santa Teresita. Signal No. 4 is up over the southeastern portion of Babuyan Islands (Camiguin Island), the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan (Santa Teresita, Ballesteros, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Lal-Lo, Allacapan, Gattaran, Baggao and Peñablanca) and the northeastern portion of Isabela (Maconacon, Divilacan and Palanan).
