Manchester City's stadium expansion is 'progressing at pace' after the new North Stand structure was attached to the rest of the stadium.
Work is ongoing to get the extra capacity in place for the 2025/26 season and the club have welcomed the latest milestone that moves the North Stand closer to completion. First-team stars Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly were on hand to mark the occasion with a family of four generation of Blues to hear the progress that is being made.
When finished, the extra seats will take the total number inside the Etihad to over 60,000 and there are 3,000 rail seats in the current plans for the new top tier of the North Stand as well as new hospitality spaces. It is also part of a wider £300m development of the ground, with a 3,000-capacity fan zone, a 400-bed hotel, a new club shop and a museum in the works to complement the Co-Op Live entertainment venue and make City's ground more of a tourist destination.

Ed Dalton, director of infrastructure development at the club, said: “It’s an exciting moment in our building programme for the new steel structure to be attached and bolted to the existing North Stand. Fans and visitors can see the extended upper tier progressing which really gives a sense of the scale of the expansion and how the inclusion of 3,000 new rail seats will add to the electric atmosphere on matchdays.
"Work is progressing at pace on the development, and we’re looking forward to marking more milestones in the coming months before we welcome fans into the expanded North Stand during the 2025-26 season.”
