Jet2 and Ryanair have both warned passengers of ‘potential disruption’ to flights this week as the UK experiences freezing conditions. Temperatures are plummeting across the country in the coming days with several areas waking up to snowfall on Tuesday.

The Met Office has issued further yellow warnings for snow and ice covering large parts of the UK including the south, the Midlands, Wales, the east coast, Northern Ireland and the highlands of Scotland. Forecasters warn that the weather could lead to delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

Jet2 told passengers that it plans to operate all flights as planned, but “there may be some disruption if the weather worsens.” In a statement on its website, the airline said: “Our Operations Team is continually monitoring the UK forecast to provide the most up to date information for all Jet2.com departures and arrivals on Tuesday 19 November and Wednesday 20 November.

“The Met Office has warned that wintery conditions are due to impact parts of the UK in the coming days. As usual, we plan to operate all our flights on schedule, however, there may be some disruption if the weather worsens.”

Passengers are urged to arrive at the airport as normal. If flights are disrupted, Jet2 will contact affected passengers via SMS and email.

Jet2 added: “We’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption you may experience due to the weather, which is outside of our control. Your comfort and safety is our number one priority - and we’ll have you on the way as soon as possible."

Ryanair has also warned travellers of disruption to flights departing from and arriving in the UK. In a statement on its website it said: “Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from The UK on Mon 18 and Tue 19 November should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight. We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which are outside of Ryanair's control and affect all airlines operating to/from The UK on Mon 18 and Tue 19 November.”
