Coronation Street fans say 'we need' in Carla Connor demand after latest near-death experience
It's been a challenging and dramatic start to the year for the much-loved character in the ITV soap
Coronation Street fans say what they 'need' to happen after Carla Connor's latest near-death experience. It's been a challenging and dramatic start to the year for the much-loved character.
As viewers of the ITV soap know, at the start of the year, there were fears Carla's psychosis may have returned until she was taken to hospital and confirmed to be suffering from sepsis.
The life-threatening infection was got under control, however, it left the Underworld factory boss needing a kidney transplant, several years after undergoing the last in 2018, where her late half-brother Aidan Connor was a donor.
This time, it was brother Rob Donovan who was Carla's donor after his son Bobby Crawford brought the convicted murderer back into his aunt's life.
While initially sceptical, Carla agreed for Rob to be tested and he was approved as a match. But her instincts were right and Rob wasn't being a donor out of the goodness of his heart, he just wanted an opportunity to escape prison.
But it didn't go as Rob, who is locked up for the murder of Tina McIntyre, hoped after Carla's girlfriend DS Lisa Swain tricked him into going through with the operation before he could escape, leading to him and prison officer Mandy kidnapping Carla.
Their confrontation ended in a weak Carla finding the strength to push her brother down the stairs, before Lisa gained consciousness and declared him dead. But when police arrived to seal the scene, Rob was gone.
Fast forward to the end of March and Rob was seen back on the Street and looked to his ex-fiancée Tracy Barlow for help. She reluctantly agreed to harbour the criminal but as his desperation increased, so did his erratic behaviour.
Tracy discovered Rob had a gun, and he didn't seem afraid to use it. When she insisted on calling an ambulance with his health in an obvious decline as he bled from his surgical wound, Rob wielded the gun in her face and demanded she phone Carla and get her to No.1 - which she did.
Knowing his time was up, Rob, still brandishing the gun, revealed to the Underworld factory boss that his plan was to make her watch him die so that the memories would haunt her forever.
But distracting him, Tracy seized her chance to escape, raising the alarm with Lisa on the way out, who swapped places with the florist. Lisa did what Rob said at first but when he placed the gun down, she took her chances and took the weapon into her own hands.
Rob wasn't taking anything lying down and made a play for the gun, resulting in a grapple between him and Lisa when the trigger was pulled and a gun shot rang out. While Rob was then quickly arrested, Lisa's horror continued as she found daughter Betsy injured in the ginnel having been hit in the upper arm by the rogue bullet and suffered a potentially life-changing injury.
Now, while Rob is out of the picture, some Corrie fans want closure for Carla after all what's happened and demanded some final scenes between the siblings.
@Indigo9944 said; "We need a final scene between Rob and Carla where she tells him that she nearly lost two of the most previous things in her world because of him." @sarah36600126 replied: "I would love a scene telling Rob to leave her little family alone."
NicolaHynes1 commented: "I actually agree with this. I think we need a final face to face with rob and carla. I will even take lisa being there showing that they are more united than ever. And carla telling him lisa and betsy are her future and he almost cost her to lose both." @TVMusings22 shared: "Feel like we deserved a scene of Carla and Rob in a last stand off, [he] got away Scott free again. #corrie."
But @SheepieSinger argued: "No. Don’t give him the satisfaction of knowing they had even a wobble. He deserves nothing more than to be left to rot." @CarolineSangui1 added: "Personally, I don’t want to see Carla or Lisa anywhere near Rob…..ever again!!"
