Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Features & Facilities
The numerous special features of the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway map are as follows:
-
Roadside Amenities: It will have numerous roadside amenities at around 93 places that provide facilities, including hotels, ATMs, food courts, single-brand food stores such as Burger King, Subway, Mc Donald’s, etc., retail shops, fuel stations as well as charging stations designed for electric vehicles. The Mumbai to Delhi expressway will be the first to include fully-equipped trauma centres and helipads at every 100 km to offer medical help for passengers who suffer an accident.
-
Environment-Friendly Facets: It will be an environment-friendly route and will cover somewhere around 20 lakh trees. These trees will be watered using the drip irrigation method along the whole stretch through the rainwater harvesting process every 500 meters. The expressway is anticipated to cut about 850 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions via tree plantation. The project is likely to save around thirty-two litres of fuel by reducing traffic congestion. Using a mix of solar energy and state grids will help in operating the roadside lights on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
-
Electric Highway or e-Highway: As per the Union ministry, there is a plan to make a stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway as an electric highway or e-highway. On this expressway, buses and trucks can run at a speed of 120 km per hour. The speed and lack of congestion on the expressway will lower the logistics expenses by approx. 70%, as heavy vehicles will use electricity as a substitute for diesel as fuel. It will also have four dedicated lanes for all-electric vehicles through the entire route of the expressway out of eight lanes. The 1.5-metre-high barrier will be built on both sides of the expressway road for security reasons, and the toll plaza will be set up inside slip lanes.
-
Wildlife Crossings: The eight-lane wide Mumbai Delhi expressway will be around five natural wildlife crossings, including Mukundara National Park, Ranthambore National Park, and Sariska Tiger Reserve, on different stretches with a collective length of around 2.5 km. The main wildlife crossing attractions would be tunnels in Mukundara National Park and Matheran eco-sensitive zone, which will be the first 8-lane broad tunnels in India. The longest Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will include the country’s first animal overpasses or bridges designed to keep the wildlife section untouched and unaffected by project construction.
-
Optic Fibre Cable Network: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is enabling optic fibre cable networks on Delhi to Mumbai expressway. It is a part of India’s National Broadband Mission (NBM). Optic fibre cable networks will help in enhancing telecommunication connectivity.
Connectivity with Other Expressways
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will have direct connections to other expressways such as:
-
DND Flyway or the Delhi-Noida Direct Flyway in Delhi and the Western Peripheral Expressway in Haryana, which will link it to the Delhi-Katra Expressway.
-
It will also have access to the Trans-Haryana Expressway through the Paniyala-Barodameo Expressway, which is a 6-lane access-controlled greenfield road spanning 86.5 km from Paniyala (south of Narnaul) to Mator, Alwar, and Barodameo.
-
The Kota-Indore Expressway, which is 136 km long, will connect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to the Hyderabad-Indore Expressway via Nanded-Akola-Omkareshwar-Indore. This will intersect with the Mumbai Nagpur Expressway at Akola and provide connectivity to the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana.
-
In Gujarat, a new spur called the Vadodara-Ankleshwar Expressway is under construction to improve connectivity within the state. It will also link up with the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway and the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway at Ahmedabad.
-
Lastly, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will also be linked to the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, providing better transportation options for Maharashtra.
New Haryana Expressway To be Connected to Delhi Mumbai Expressway
To reduce the travel time between north and west India, the trans-Haryana Expressway will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. An 86 km-long road will be constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The road aims to reduce vehicular pressure in Delhi NCR and decongest NH-44 (Srinagar to Kanyakumari).
-
The new expressway will be between- Paniyala and Barodameo in Alwar Rajasthan
-
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1400 crore
-
The estimated completion date is 2 years from the construction date
-
People from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh can use the expressway
Real Estate Impact
1. Overall Real Estate Growth: More than 70 per cent of the construction work has been completed. The Mumbai-Delhi Expressway is expected to bring remarkable growth to the real estate market. This is because the expressway is providing robust developments in various townships, housing projects, commercial properties, and much more. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one of the biggest highway projects in the country. The project will help drive organised investments into townships, business parks, logistics parks, and more. The small towns around Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara are also likely to get a push with increased economic activity. These areas include Panchmahal, Bharuch, and Valsad, among others.
2. Increase in Land Prices: Property prices have increased by 60 to 70% in the last three years. Especially in Gurugram - Sohna elevated road and for the Sohna - Dausa part around the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway. The growth of big projects, including Godrej, Signature Global, and other established builders, is even higher. Earlier, the prices in these areas were around Rs 90,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per square yard. The prices today, after just 2 to 3 years, are around Rs 1,40,000 to Rs 1,60,000 per square yard in the area. In addition, the prices for apartments are also likely to increase significantly in areas around the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. The price of land is also expected to go up around the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) area by around 30 to 40 per cent.
3. Sohna to Become a New Real Estate Hotspot: With the opening of the Delhi to Mumbai Expressway, Sohna might become a new real estate hotspot in Haryana. The expressway will pass through Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Thus, the project will help in attracting more investors to the city. Many sectors are also being constructed around the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Alwar Expressway (NH-248A).
Real Estate Experts believe Sohna is centrally located in the NCR and is well connected to many other cities. The real estate growth of any city largely depends on the connectivity and physical and social infrastructure of the locality. Other factors responsible for development are residential and commercial developments in the neighbourhood.
According to the numbers shared by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), there are ten affordable group housing projects, 19 group-housing projects in Sohna, and 15 projects under the Deen Dayal Awas Yojana, besides six to seven commercial projects.
With the opening of the Sohna - Dahusa section, the number of real estate opportunities is likely to increase. These opportunities will further increase once the entire expressway is fully operational. The benefit of real estate opportunities will extend to 26 districts, 11 of which are in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Improvement in connectivity and reduced travel time are likely to cause a surge in industrial growth, especially in warehousing and logistics.
