We hosted our first WhatsApp Business Messaging event in Malaysia this week. Hear from Country Director Nicole Tan on the insights local customers need to know.
WhatsApp is an integral part of all our lives in Malaysia. It’s how we stay in touch with friends and family, run our errands and build our community. For me, it’s also how I order a cake and get my parcel delivery updates. Now, a new study shows that Malaysians want to connect with businesses the same way they communicate with their friends and family—through messaging. No surprise then that 7 in 10 people in Malaysia say they prefer to message a business over calling or emailing them. Or that nearly 8 out of 10 people in Malaysia already message a business at least once a week (Business Messaging Usage Research by Kantar, March 2024). The findings were unveiled at WhatsApp Sessions: Grow Your Business, our first WhatsApp Business Messaging event in Malaysia today. Particularly excited to see how businesses use the new Meta Verified option on the WhatsApp Business app, now fully available in Malaysia. And how they continue to leverage ads that click to WhatsApp, Marketing Messages and Flows to create even more delightful in-chat experiences. 🚀 I’m grateful to the Malaysian businesses community, our partners and developers that attended the event.
