We’re proud to announce our partnership and first contribution to the Global Fund for Coral Reefs Coalition, aimed at scaling up efforts to protect critical marine ecosystems. The work GFCR is doing across more than 20 coral reef states is pivotal to transitioning economies toward ones that safeguard biodiversity and coastal communities. From sustainable fisheries to innovative financing mechanisms like debt-for-nature swaps, blue carbon and reef credits, these are exactly the kinds of solutions that demonstrate how collaborative catalytic capital can create systemic change to address the problems of biodiversity loss and climate change. Do you know what an Income Share Agreement is? In Sub-Saharan Africa, 8 million young people are in tertiary education. That’s about 9% of young people – more than double the share in 2000, but it’s still far lower than the world average of about 40% or the average in North America & Western Europe of about 80%. CHANCEN International, one of our education partners, is on a mission to change this. Through an innovative, student-centric financing model called Income Share Agreements, they're working to offer young people in Africa access to vocational and higher education. UBS Optimus Foundation is proud to announce our investment in the Transform Health Fund, where blended finance helps scale investments in vital healthcare across Africa. Under the management of AfricInvest Group and in collaboration with Health Finance Coalition, this innovative fund will expand investment into locally led health supply chains, care delivery, and digital solutions in Africa, and aims to directly address the USD 66 billion funding gap needed to fulfil essential healthcare needs in Africa.
