Participants will graduate next month when they make their final capstone presentation. Last week our office had the honor of hosting U.S. Small Business Administration Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed and his Senior Advisor Mark Ranneberger for a 2-day tour of West Texas. During his visit, we had the opportunity to showcase the amazing work being done by WT Enterprise Center and the America's SBDC at WTAMU in Amarillo. The WT Enterprise center serves as a small business incubator that houses the SBDC, manufacturing spaces, commercial kitchens and provides office space for startups and other local businesses. While in Amarillo, DA Syed formally addressed the West Texas “Panhandle Powerhouse SBA T.H.R.I.V.E. Cohort” and participated in a business roundtable which included small business owners, lenders and other stakeholders to discuss small business concerns in the Panhandle. We wrapped up the day with lunch and a tour with the 2024 Small Businessperson of the Year for West Texas - George and Paige Nester of Creek House Honey Farm in Canyon, TX.

Breaking news. SBA Administrator Guzman announced fees for FY 2025 on SBA loans. Good news for small businesses and lenders. No annual lender fee on 7a loans under $500K and reduced fees for $500K to $1 million @ just .17% of the guaranteed portion. On loans over $1million, the SBA ongoing fee is .55% of the guaranteed portion. But the big news is: For the second year in a row, SBA will not be charging small businesses an upfront guarantee fee for loans of $1 million or less. Also, no upfront guarantee fee on 504 loans. This goes into effect 10/1/24 - 9/30/25. www.sba.gov/ma
