Visiting Air Force veteran Leah Solis-Karl, Owner/Operator, Menchie’s Canyon Park, was a sweet treat for Beto Yarce, Regional Administrator, and Melanie Norton, District Director, SBA Seattle District Office on Tuesday. The stop was to show Beto and Melanie’s appreciation of those who served during National Veterans Small Business Week. Leah and her husband and business partner, Joe Karl, also own the Menchie’s in Marysville as well as a fro-yo truck for events. The duo shared their perspectives and upcoming plans for expansion, including to the Port of Everett. Leah is a veteran of the Air Force and completed two deployments to Saudi Arabia. Beto Yarce, Regional Administrator, was honored to participate in the Economic Alliance Snohomish County’s annual North Puget Sound Contracting Conference on November 7. He gave an overview of SBA services, update on contracting information and assistance available and some opportunities available for contractors and subs under President Biden’s Investing In America. One of the best parts of the afternoon for Beto was reconnecting with Francisco Rizo and Maria Quezada of Rizo’s Painting & Home Improvement LLC. The couple were clients of Ventures when Beto was leading the microlending non-profit.
