It’s been exactly one month since our very first #UDClimate Game Jam!!! To recap: Our Climate Hub director A.R. Siders had the ground breaking idea to collectively mix climate change communication and student-developed video games 🎮🕹️🌎As climate communication continues to grow in the journalistic limelight, video games are now thought of as a natural and newly modern way to communicate the effects of climate change. The excitement and engagement between a player and their video game storyline is an incredibly impactful connection, and climate change can be an equally influential storyline within games!!! Our Game Jam hosted its own open gameplay followed by a multi-talented group of leaders and speakers within the Climate-video game world, but the competition itself included a wide range of students across the country! We received video game submissions from UC Irvine Ohio University University of Delaware University of Southern California Irvine Valley College We’d like to highlight our very own UD-homegrown winners of the women leadership category: Kori Nguyen Ziyi Zhou Christopher Bennett Tyran Rice Jr. Michael Bocelli who were the masterminds behind the game Climate Chantey—a sailing of the seven seas, shedding light on realities of climate refugees while simultaneously creating an action-packed, adventurous game following Kaptain Kori. We are so excited to see our own players from #UDClimate paving the way for new cross-disciplinary climate work. If you’re interested in our Climate Game Jam, feel free to stick around for next year and consider entering your own submission!!

Great work Anna Servidio! It is so encouraging to see University of Delaware Climate Scholars leading discussions with students and community groups about climate change. Thank you Phil Smith for introducing us all to EnRoads!
I was incredibly honored to present at the YES! Youth Environmental Summit hosted by the University of Delaware on February 29th. An amazing opportunity and always a great time refining my skills with Phil Smith and my co-presenter Maya Feinstein. This summit was a wonderful opportunity for myself as a presenter and high schoolers as attendees to network and be exposed to companies working in the climate sphere. I'm excited to extend my EnRoads Certified Presenter credential to the Climate Ambassador level.

The #UDClimate Hub is eager to share stories and raise voices surrounding community outreach—just like our recent Road to Heat Resilience project. As Matthew Henderson reflects on our efforts to mitigate extreme heat in our most recent blog post, we plan to initiate more climate conversations surrounding new emergency cooling centers while also involving our Climate Scholars community to take action in assistive research. Whether it be heat mapping, climate change resistance, or community philanthropy, our Climate Hub is providing opportunities for students and community leaders to get involved. Our last mission with high heat-absorbance is an exceptional reflection of our ambitious climate duties, so please continue reading on our Climate Change Hub Blog and consider researching and learning about WiST Heat Watch results!!
