With the excitement of the first Video Game Law Summit in Shanghai (which just took place during #ChinaJoy), I haven't had the chance to debrief about it, but in June, I had the pleasure of attending the ⚖️Private Practice Day at Legal Innovators California, organized by Cosmonauts and Artificial Lawyer. The theme of this year’s event was, as one could expect, generative AI – but, with a refreshing emphasis on practical implementation. 💡📝 🌐Framed by the keynote speech from David Wang, Chief Innovation Officer at Wilson Sonsini, several panels explored how law firms can transition from “playing” with AI to practically implementing AI, including panels like Contracting in the Age of AI, Harnessing the Power of Generative AI, and Revolutionizing Litigation with LLMs. 📚 Many panelists and speakers noted that while we’re still in the early generation of practical generative AI tools, now is the time to start taking advantage of the innovations available, and to start preparing for innovations ahead, including by evaluating untapped and unstructured data law firms have – keeping in mind ethics obligations to clients. ⏰Several speakers, including Marlene Gebauer, Assistant Director of Innovation at Mayer Brown, and John LaBarre, General Counsel at Harvey, pronounced the near-end of the billable hour as AI tools create more predictable, more efficient legal workflows, allowing lawyers to focus on outcomes rather than the time taken to reach outcomes. 🤖 In a first for the event, we also had the pleasure of hearing the pitches for several exciting legal tools, providing a sneak peek into the present and shortly arriving innovations in legal technology. 👏 A huge thank you to the speakers and panelists who made the event both insightful and practical. I look forward to implementing what I learned in my own practice at Pillar Legal, P.C. #LegalInnovatorsCalifornia #AI #LegalTech

Founder of Stalwart Law Group and Co-Founder of Steno

As a litigator and co-founder of Steno, I’ve experienced the tedious process of sifting through deposition transcripts. From highlighting physical copies to ctrl+F searches in digital documents, we’ve come a long way. Now, our latest innovation, Transcript Genius, is changing the game. During my recent keynote at the Legal Innovators California conference, I revealed how Transcript Genius is revolutionizing transcript handling: 🔍 Find Information Fast: Advanced semantic search lets you quickly locate the most relevant transcripts, saving you from manually sifting through hundreds of pages. 📑 Dynamic Summaries: Generate summaries that fit your exact needs, whether you require a brief overview or a detailed analysis. 🔗 Trustworthy Citations: Every piece of information comes with hyperlinked citations, ensuring you can verify the data and maintain accuracy. ⚖️ Precise Interrogation: Ask specific questions to identify contradictions or pinpoint crucial evidence, making Transcript Genius a powerful tool in your litigation arsenal. 🗂️ Cross-Transcript Analysis: Interrogate multiple transcripts simultaneously, identifying inconsistencies across different depositions in minutes. The implications are profound, saving time and enhancing the quality of legal work. Dive deeper into case analysis, uncover hidden insights, and build stronger arguments. The future of legal research is here, powered by AI. Let’s leverage these tools to work efficiently, serve our clients better, and uphold justice more effectively. What are your thoughts on AI in the legal industry? How do you see it shaping the future of law practice?
