The College of Mount Saint Vincent Accounting Society strives to introduce our students to the many and varied opportunities and careers in the field of accounting. The CMSV Accounting Society is chartered by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), founded in 1919 to support accounting and financial professionals in business. The CMSV Accounting Society helps students: - Understand the importance of integrity and ethics as they enter the business world; - Foster relationships among fellow accounting students and faculty to develop a community of professionals that learn, grow and work together; - Secure a meaningful internship at companies and organizations with global reputation; - Master effective presentation and writing skills; - Learn and hone the skills of an effective job search, such as networking, resume writing and cover letter preparation, elevator pitches, and how to best target various industries; - Initiate and participate in professional discussions on current business and economic events that impact the accounting profession and business in general. The CMSV Accounting Society strives to foster a stronger business and college partnership and to sponsor various events with industry experts in many different fields to strengthen this partnership. The events organized by the Accounting Society are open to all students regardless of major and include professional presentations and panels on risk management, insurance, underwriting, and finance.
