Jessica Glasscock (Part-time Faculty at the School of Art and Design History and Theory) said of Peggy Moffitt, "She was transgressing extreme femininity toward something that identified with the avant-garde ideal of the ’60s. She was working with her collaborators to make true art.”

Speaking to Kamala Harris' penchant for classic pantsuits, Hazel Clark (Professor of Design and Fashion Studies) told Newsweek: "I think it's great, and that's what she wants. The New York Times explored the design trend where old-fashioned techniques related to leather-making, millinery, and more are becoming increasingly popular, and interviewed Fiona Dieffenbacher (Associate Professor of Fashion Design) about how it’s impacted design education.

Congratulations to Mohammad Valizadeh Alvan (MFA Lighting Design and Architectural Design ’25) who was awarded a merit scholarship that will provide instrumental funds for him as he begins his final thesis year at Parsons! “The scholarship has elevated my expectations of myself as a representative of our school’s lighting program and the lighting design community,” Alvan said. “It validates my efforts, inspires me in many aspects, and boosts my confidence in my future endeavors, motivating me to continue striving for excellence in my studies and career.”

Angeline Gragasin (Faculty, School of Art and Design History and Theory) completed a Yaddo residency in the Film and Video discipline, where she developed a new feature-length screenplay. Next up, Gragasin will take her new film “Myself When I Am Real” to international film festivals. 🎞️

It’s arrived! re:D 2024: “Design Beyond Borders” is out now. In this year's re:D (Regarding Design) magazine, creativity takes our community across boundaries both physical and academic. Jilly Traganou (Professor of Architecture and Urbanism), author of Designing the Olympics, said she appreciated the unifying message of the new pictograms, which, with their coat of arms, emphasize "the idea of belonging to a particular sport" rather than a nationality.

Noemi Florea (BFA Integrated Design '23) is the founder of Laero Design Studio and creator of Cycleau, a unique grey water management system that could save millions of gallons of water each year and help protect impoverished families from water insecurity.
