Remotion's Product Hunt Launch: Day 1 Update

Remotion's Product Hunt Launch: Day 1 Update

Thanks to everyone who supported Multi 's Product Hunt launch! Here are the results one day in:

Coverage

  • 4th product of the day—competitive day!
  • Press coverage in 9to5Mac , The Mac Observer , and other outlets & languages

Content

  • We also published a technical blog post which is already ranking for 114 keywords and climbing quickly
  • Maybe because it was quoted in press, mentioned on PH, and shared on HN & HN-like sites
  • Going forward we'll be leaning into tech content

Acquisition results

No alt text provided for this image

  • 141 new teams created in Remotion
  • Seems like coverage directly or indirectly drove more than PH

Thoughts on performance

  • The lowest performing of our 3 launches so far
  • We expected lower results because we held off on the multiple emails, DMs etc to rally community to PH. But this is still lower than our lowered baseline
  • Could be that our experiment of marketing a niche, consumery feature (Spotify sync) instead of main product (virtual office) didn't pay off
  • Or maybe the payoff will be more spread out from press coverage. We'll know more in a week
  • Or, as Michelle Marcelline shared for Typedream 's follow on launch, could be that we're generally seeing lower engagement on Product Hunt, or that follow-on launches aren't as good on the platform.

Downstream results

  • As usual, the PH & press signups are less engaged than organic traffic
  • For example, our macOS install rate is ~40%
  • That's ok as long as it climbs, which it usually does

Conclusion

  • Only a day in, but this launch might be more about internet presence than immediate results
  • As a leader, the hardest part is figuring out the most productive framing for the team
  • Proud of team for rallying. Excited to move onwards to new focuses!
