"It felt like a natural progression to start my career at Rockdale, considering I was born there and my mother works in cardiology," Brittany reflected. "After gaining a year of experience at Rockdale, I discovered my passion for the operating room and sought out opportunities to expand my horizons in Atlanta. Working closely with my mom was a cherished experience, but even though we're now at different facilities, we still provide each other with support and encouragement."

"I couldn't be prouder of Brittany for choosing a career in healthcare," Sheree expressed. "Piedmont has been instrumental in fostering her professional growth and knowledge. Her genuine desire to make a positive impact and her compassionate approach to patient care reflect her dedication. I'm immensely proud of all she has achieved."

Knowing that I am helping others in a time of need and easing their burden with a smile on my face makes me think I am making my mama proud.”

Kelly, a certified medical assistant with the Family Medicine Residency Program at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown, has worked there for about four years. Her daughter, Brittany, has been a front office assistant at Piedmont Physicians Endocrinology Columbus since 2023.

“I love working at Piedmont with my mother because we get to create lasting patient experiences. Although we work in separate departments and in separate areas, we get to collaborate to provide patients with the best care,” Brittany said. “A small example of this is: She taught me the different types and names of insulins and what they do so I could better help answer patients’ questions when they call with a concern or medication request. We get to learn from each other how different departments run to help in each of our respective roles and job environments. Plus, always having her down the street is an added bonus!”

“I love working at Piedmont with my daughter for multiple reasons. There is a certain bond between a mother and daughter and being able to have someone understand what our jobs entail has a kind of therapy about it,” Kelly said. “I have seen first-hand her dedication, compassion and care for patients, and it makes my mama heart melt at how amazing and dedicated to patients she is!”

“I love that Morgan and I both work at Piedmont,” Shona said. “Our paths cross often with mutual patients undergoing breast cancer diagnosis and seeing the surgeons in her office. It’s nice to hear patients tell me they met my daughter and how she took such good care of them.”

Misty, a paramedic with the stress lab at Piedmont Heart of Blairsville, has been with Piedmont since January. Her daughter, Taylor, has served as a cardiovascular sonographer at Piedmont Heart of Blairsville for about two years.

“I love working with my mom because Piedmont is a very family-oriented place,” Taylor said. “It’s nice to know my mom is just down the hall for me to be able to call for help and her come running, just as she has my whole life. My mother and I have always been very close, I love getting to spend the work day with her!”

“Not wanting to infringe on Taylor’s space, I asked if she would be O.K. with me applying, and her response was, ‘Mom I would love to work with you,’ ” Misty said. “What a blessing it has been to see my adult daughter in her element, to see the respect she has gained from her co-workers, and her compassion for her patients. We have always had a very close relationship, but this has only brought us closer. When we do stress echoes together, it’s the coolest day!”

“My daughter grew up here at the hospital as I worked in the ED. Everyone knew her,” Bonnie said. “I’ve been traveling from Waynesboro for nearly 39 years, but now it’s fun to have someone in the car to talk with on that long ride. It gives us both a lot of bonding time together since she is no longer living at home with us. We have always been close but working at the same facility makes this feel extra special.”
