How to not be Cynical

How to not be Cynical

The older I get the easier it becomes to become more cynical.

Why be this way?
Who wants to be cynical and unpleasant to be around? There is a trick I have discovered to fight this tendency. Yes, there are plenty of reasons to be cynical, but none of them are good enough considering the alternative is much better: having a child-like wonder.

I have read job postings that indicate, "must not be cynical." Now why do you think that is? Can you really be creative if you have this knocking around in your head: "it does not matter what I do. The people higher up (or lower) on the corporate ladder are not going to like my idea even though it is great." How awful. Even typing that mentally hurt.

The trick...

Inspiration
The simplicity of the solution makes astonishing sense.

Simply find things to inspire you and do not let what others might think alter your motivation; unless what they think increases your motivation of course.

Design
Then use your new-found vigor to directly impact your work. Upon seeing the image above on Pixabay last night I immediately redid my company website (company of one employee: me) including a Google map integration.

Then I started learning more about front end development (FED) here: https://teamtreehouse.com/tracks/front-end-web-development

I was even more inspired! Do not let yourself become cynical. Keep going. :)

Sometimes I think I am too cynical, and then something happens at work, in politics, in society, etc, and I realize that I am not cynical enough.
