Ask Yourself First

Ask Yourself First

I was reading "The 10 Compliance Interview Questions you MUST Prepare For" by Maurice Gilbert, managing Partner of Conselium Executive Search, and thinking about my own answers. I am sure it is important to take a break and ask yourself, as a professional, some right questions. Even if you are not hiring. One thing I can not agree with Maurice is about stressful role of Compliance profession. It is rather challenging and sometimes looks like speedway. But in spite of this I like it.

1. What are the compliance and ethics issue you frequently face in your current job?

2. How can your present company’s compliance program be improved?

3. If you are to leave your present compliance role what would people say was your greatest contribution to the compliance department?

4. Describe a time when you were directly or indirectly asked to do something in violation of either company policy/ethics or your own moral code?

5. What do you believe are the greatest compliance risks facing your industry? Your organization?

6. Describe a situation in which you were trying to shape and influence a senior executive on a compliance matter and encountered resistance. How did you overcome it and what did you learn from it?

7. How do you stay current on government regulation? On industry code?

8. Describe a task you were asked to complete but had inadequate human resources. How did you get the job done?

9. How do you manage your stress?

10. What is the most difficult problem you ever faced in the workplace? How did you resolve it?
