Derek Sprunger, MD, FAAO, Professor, Indiana University School of Medicine, presented real-world data from the PUPiL Registry at the European and International Strabismological Association conference this past weekend. The PUPiL Registry collects real world data from patients prescribed Luminopia. In this analysis, Registry patients with similar characteristics as patients enrolled in the phase 3 clinical trial saw a 1.7-line improvement in BCVA and maintained a median adherence of 83%. No safety events were reported among registry participants. These promising results continue to support Luminopia as an engaging and effective treatment option for children with amblyopia. So we did a thing - or I should say, we always do this thing! We recruited the first participant 'Rest of the World' to a global phase 2/3 Diabetic macular oedema trial. We are not new to this - having achieved this milestone across 4 trials in 2 years. I am privileged to be the UK Chief Investigator for these trials and committed to promoting the UK as a premium destination for Ophthalmology trials. We are not new to this, we are true to this! Ask about us! How do we manage to hit these milestones so consistently at LNWH: 1. Strong patient and public engagement: Our patients know we are committed to bringing high-quality trials to them and we discuss this at our regular patient forums, on posters around our clinic and in comms to our local community 2. Diverse research teams: Our teams are culturally competent, taking time to reach out and build trust with the communities we serve. We work to demystify and normalise research daily and rebuild trust, accepting it is a longterm commitment. 3. Careful selection of trials we are passionate about: we don't take on every trial and in fact, we are a small eye unit. #News: Today, Biosense Webster announced support for two collaborative studies aimed at better understanding the use and workflows with the investigational VARIPULSE™ Platform for treating patients with diverse arrhythmias.  The first study, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Vivek Reddy, aims to assess the platform's effectiveness in treating different atrial arrhythmias, such as #AFib and atypical atrial flutter. The second study, in partnership with Dr. Moussa Mansour, is investigating the platform's use and its one-year effectiveness in conducting pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) and ablation of the posterior left atrial wall, two common procedures for heart rhythm management.    At Biosense Webster we are committed to using multiple evidence generation approaches to lead the way in understanding PFA technology to inform future clinical practice. Our AJR narrative review is now online. We describe how, why, and when to use MRI- and ultrasound based elastography methods for liver fibrosis assessment in children.  Practical approaches are discussed for adapting and optimizing these methods with consideration of clinical indications, patient preparation, equipment requirements, acquisition technique, as well as pitfalls and confounding factors. RainMed is collaborating with Sino Medical in the PIONEER IV trial, a prospective randomized trial that will be conducted in 30 hospitals across Europe with 2,540 patients and involves patients with various types of coronary heart disease, including acute heart disease, chronic heart disease, or vascular stenosis. Eligible patients will undergo a non-invasive physiological vascular screening process to determine which vessels require stenting. RainMed's caFFR technology will be used in this clinical trial together with Medis Medical Imaging's QFR as a non-invasive physiological detection technology. The trial is sponsored by the National University of Ireland Galway and centrally coordinated by the University's Advanced Imaging and Core Laboratory CORRIB Research Center, and led by Patrick W. Serruys, Senior Professor of Interventional Medicine and Innovation, and William Wijns, Science Foundation Ireland Professor of Interventional Cardiology. The trial is currently underway, and RainMed's caFFR technology has been installed and enrolled in multiple centers. Excited to co-author the first SLR reporting clinical and cost-effectiveness evidence for superabsorbent wound dressings for the treatment of chronic ulcers! The small number and low quality of studies identified in both the clinical SLR and cost-effective SLR highlights an obvious need for future research on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of superabsorbent wound dressings for the treatment of chronic ulcers.
