CEO, World Obesity Federation and Global Health Leader in NCDs, Policy, Communications and Organizational Change
We are incredibly sad to learn of the sudden passing of International Diabetes Federation President, Professor Akhtar Hussain. Together with World Obesity Federation Board leaders Louise Baur and Simon Barquera, we met with him last week in São Paulo at #ICO2024 to discuss next steps in our collaboration. Akhtar led the IDF delegation and was full of ambitious plans and hopes for a shared approach to #obesity and #diabetes. We will honor his wishes and legacy by working with IDF and the diabetes community on a joint vision of care and cooperation.

1moThe diabetes community has suffered a great loss, we at the board of International Diabetes Federation have lost our president, a great leader and friend. Nevertheless we will continue with his vision joining efforts and collaborating with other organizations for the benefit of the people living with diabetes and other NCDs across the globe. Peace to his soul!
