Workplace Transformation Strategist and Futurist #RemoteWorkPositive Transforming the world of work, one workplace at a time…

This happens to be one of the most needed, little known hiring programs around…. With more than 25% of our school aged children in this country having some form of diagnosis that falls into the category of #neurodivergence - these are the kinds of programs that can be a game changer for how we think about recruiting, hiring and retaining top talent in an inclusive way. Kudos to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for leading the way on this across the Intrlligence Community and I’m excited to see other agencies across the #federalgovernment accurate adoption of the same. Some great organizations like the Census Bureau have also created #neurodiversity #affinitygroups and #employeeresourcegroups to support their #workforce and encourage allyship #neurodiversityatwork #neurodiversity #inclusiveworkplace #inclusiveculture #employeeexperience #futureofwork #inclusivehiring #federalworkforce #workforcetransformation

Use caution with any hiring effort by NGA; while working as a Psychologist there, I found it employs a “bait and switch” approach to hiring: promising one thing in the selection/interview process but there being a totally different experience once on-boarded—so don’t trust the hype around neurodiverse inclusivity—ask lots and lots of questions before even considering an offer.

As a neurodiverse individual I applaud these efforts. 👏 Demystifying neurodiversity is key to stopping discrimination. Hoping this opens doors for hiring and advancement, challenges faced by those in the neurodiverse community.

UNFORTUNATELY, after listening to the entire podcast, they did not mention any other forms of neurodivergence other than autism, so this is yet another organization that says they have a "neurodiversity hiring program", when they really mean an AUTISM hiring program. Also, they are using pathologizing, outdated, and non-inclusive language. I applaud inclusive efforts, but they need to be clear WHO they are including, or they ultimately EXclude.

Where do job-seekers find information about this program? Thank you!
