This week marks the beginning of summer, and for Wolf Trap that means the start of a new season at Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods! It is wonderful to see the joy and excitement on the faces of children and families through song, theater, dance, and puppetry. The arts, especially live performances, have the power to captivate, engage, educate, and entertain while bringing together people of varying backgrounds and ages through shared artful experiences.

Who should wear the crown? By god, anyone who wants to tell the story. The theatre is about play, as is, in essence, all creative acts. Whenever an industry or group tells you that there are certain rules you have to abide by, they are probably wrong. However, as Shakespeare scholars know, every era has a 'right' way of doing his work. Turns out our time is no different. Instead of demanding physically disabled actors play Richard III, go bigger--lets see a physically disabled Hamlet, Puck, Macbeth, Henry V, Ophelia, etc.. Focus on expanding opportunities, not limiting them--These words are here for our own play, there is no 'right' way to do it. https://lnkd.in/ebJ_gXgp https://lnkd.in/ebJ_gXgp

This is my own version of an adult cartoon series. Essentially a cartoon that uses potty humor and high levels of intelligence. The show revolves around the cast of a local community theater. We will never actually see the cast in any performances. The show is centered around their dya to day lives as they interact with each other at this community theater. I will be working to eliminate stereotypes with this show. First, I'll meet the world where it is right now. Developing characters that have strong stereotypes. Then I will begin shifting those characters away from their stereotypes. Doing so by how they interact with each other.

As the curtains begin to rise on a new year, the stage of life suggest that we ponder the roles people play in our personal narratives. It’s associated to a grand theater where individuals find their places—some in the front row, some in the balcony, and others relegated to the parking lot. The front row represents a select few—those special souls who walk alongside us through the highs and lows. Rita refers to them as our Ride-or-Dies! Look up Joshua Bell. He played the violin in an NYC subway and managed to make about $32 in tips… And on another night, he sold out a theater in Boston, with each seat averaging around $100. Sometimes, it isn’t just about what you have to offer. It’s where you take it.
